Will the football team scrimmage again today (Friday) or tomorrow?

Saturday scrimmages tends to be the norm to get the preparations in order.

RB3 is probably nowhere closer than it was. Smith, Wallace, and Martin have all missed time with minor stuff.

QB2 saw Grunk with Allar throwing to the main WR group during Tuesday's look in.

Belgrave-Shorter emerging in Safety 2 race, but I don't think anybody knows what that means yet. Could be a 3 man rotation.

3 LBs to stand out in the "next group" are Wylie, Speca, and Tatsch (Knowles is on record as trusting Rojas, Deluca, and Campbell).

Nothing new on DTs.

Yeah, so only update from your list and what I've read is Belgrave-Shorter making a move in the Safety room and those competing for RB3 each missing some time. I was not aware of BGS in the mix for Safety PT.
Do you think 4 Safties will be used in rotation, with the starters getting the majority of game reps?
Sure hope a few of those back-up LBers step up and become reliable.

Deluca better than Wylie? I guess so but was hoping Wylie would break out this season.

Update: DeJuan Lane (Safety) & Kenneth Wosely busted at their apartment for Marijuana possession and additional potential charge for Wosely of possession of alcohol by an underage individual.
Could be the reason BGS moved up the Safety depth chart?

DeLuka has played a lot of football for PSU and seems to be a smart player that consistently plays positionally. And he's a better athlete than the label "former walk on" projects. I thought that it would take something crazy for DeLuka to get knocked from at least being a co-starter.

Tatsch being in the mix, seemingly ahead of Arrington, seems like big news to me. Tatsch reportedly missed a good bit of time in his H.S. senior season but must have been 100% coming into Fall camp. I still believe Tatsch will redshirt, but who knows.

I'm just happy to see more of the young LB's getting in the mix, and progressing, as even though the depth has yet to be fully sorted out behind what seems like a super solid 1.5 depth chart of Rojas, Campbell and Deluka there will be turnover at LB after this season. DeLuka is out of eligibility, Rojas may go to the NFL if he has a great year. Campbell more than likely stays at PSU for 2026 to lead the LB room, but the other 2026 and 2027 LB starters likely will come from Speca, Tatsch, Arrington. Would also be great for Wylie to earn quality snaps this season and compete to start, or at least be the top backup in 2026.

The name that seems to be missing is Nelson at LB. He seems to have filled out since he was moved from Safety to LB and got some snaps last season as a backup. Wonder if he is hurt.

Lane may be in the dog house for a while, so Belgrave-Shorter may be the player that gets the playing time Lane would have gotten early in the season, until (or if) Lane earns his way back from his reported legal issue.

No mention of Mack at Safety? Does that mean he is more focused on playing in the slot? If Tracy has that locked up why wouldn't the staff be practicing Mack at Safety more, as it seems there are a wealth of talent at CB but not as much depth at Safety..... Should be interesting to watch how this plays out through the warm up games.....

Mack definitely in the mix with Lane and Belgrave-Shorter. As far as I can tell, Mack IS NOT in the mix for Nickel/Slot and that's Tracy's job with Woosley competing.

By most accounts, Mack is probably best suited for FS. He didn't play well in the Slot at Bama (I believe his playing time decreased as the year went on, but I don't have snap counts accessible). The key is probably if Knowles can comfortably move Wheatley to SS and let him move around like he used Downs.

This season has the potential to be 16/17 games long…..almost 2 seasons. If that is the case, we’ll absolutely need 4+ safeties and 6+ cornerbacks ( assuming 4-2-5)
