147k new jobs, well above expectations

State and local government jobs were the ones that experienced growth. Federal jobs were cut by around 7,000 from the article I read yesterday.

Microsoft is cutting 9,000 workers but they’re doing well growth wise. They are also applying for thousands of H1B visas in the meantime.
“Microsoft's cuts also come after one of its best quarters ever, with the company announcing $26 billion in profit from January through March. Its stock is up nearly 20 percent year-to-date, at a time when tech companies across the board are looking to replace certain jobs, particularly in coding and engineering, with AI.’

Expect wages to significantly start rising again like under the first Trump term, especially with $10+T! in investment committed already.

The most fervent TDS'ers still won't acknowledge that wages did indeed rise significantly, and for women and minorities. The 2020 Census Report on Poverty and Income clearly shows it. It reminds me of a child sticking his fingers in his ears and screaming, "I CAN'T HEAR YOU.. lalalalala."

Why do the lefties want Trump to fail? If Trump fails, that means America is failing.

Is that what you lefties want?

says the Wall Street journal..........
it seems odd as so many have been let go or voluntarily retired from the Fed Govt in the first quarter. But I wasn't expecting a good first half, economically, because change is hard. The key will be Q4 and Q1 '26 as we head into the next federal election cycle.

I know a number people, young people looking for jobs and pickings right now are very slim compared to 3-4 years ago. Many companies holding steady, in a wait and see posture

I am seeing the same. Not a lot of good entry-level jobs out there. I think we are also beginning to see the effect of AI and advanced robotics. Every retailer now has self-service lines, for example. A lot of writing, law, and journalism is now done via AI.

On the other hand, I bought gas for $2.64 this weekend. Real estate, in Ohio, is holding steady if not advancing. Stock market is at record highs. So it isn't all bad.

Living here in Maryland around Fort Meade and other DOD type job places I can tell you that most of what was added over the last couple years to try and make the numbers look good where these type of jobs. Most of these were also jobs reserved for or given primarily to African-Americans or Hispanics. When doge came in and started looking around they saw that these jobs were basically doing nothing for 75+ K. i’ve got plenty of former students who used this route to get a big pay raise for the last couple years, but now those jobs are gone, and unless they can snag one from our current governor who seems to just be re-hiring as many of that person to some other state level job they might not even be able to go back to their old job. People are gonna blame that on Trump, but the reality of it is that it was from the previous administrations poor economy and faking numbers that is costing these current people their old job from two years ago
