2025/26 Transfer Portal & Roster Changes Thread

Freshman Safety Braz Thomas in portal as well.

Looked to have a nice frame for a Safety, but Lane and Toure played lights out in the bowl in addition to Mack, so maybe he didn't like his chances.

And apparently Speca at LB as well. He got passed up by Tatsch.

Anyone else surprised by the number of players that could be contributors going to the portal so far?

Agent Talk > Campbell Talk, or ???

The Miami/OSU game just shows again how important DL play is, and that's where the PSU roster seems to getting decimated so far. Campbell and new DL coach may need $10 Million to rebuild it.....

I think Gilliam and Harvey are solid but there are tons of guys in the portal at least as good. Just need to pay to get them

Yep, but there was a pretty big need at both DE and especially DT before the latest exits, so the numbers of quality players on the DL to bring in now are larger than even at WR.

A number of ISU Dlinemen in th portal, but all are mid or low 3 star rated as portal recruits by 247. Likely solid, but probably not DDS or Durant talent and for sure not Carter talent. They'll likely come cheap, but there'll be money to be spent for big DL playmakers additionally.

All of this mean that the loss of the 2026 recruiting class may have no effect on the caliber of new talent in 2026 enrollees.
The portal and $ allow Campbell to build a good stable of young talent to train and use. Why gamble six figure salaries on 4-5 star talent any more? Each bad pick reduces $ to buy proven players in the portal.
IMHO, recruiting is now VERY complicated and risky.
If Campbell can prove his ability to identify, teach and develop talent, he will attract future talent at lower salaries.

Yep. USC has had top classes forever, but it's better to pay for a proven commodity through the portal. Maybe the model is to recruit just five to ten 4 & 5 star high schoolers and bring in the rest from the portal.

There aren't enough proven commodities in the portal and if those that are proven will attract top dollar.

Look at OSU. Most of their star players were recruited out of high school. Same with PSU (Allar, Singleton, Allen, DDS, etc)
 
PSU wants to improve it's roster through the portal but it might be difficult to just break even.

Fisher, Harris, Coleman, Washington, Gilliam, Wiley, and Harvey all contributed but are now gone. Hopefully no more major losses but that might be optimistic.

We'll probably get 4-5 kids from Iowa State and another 4-5 elsewhere. Priorities are RB, WR, DT, DE, LB, & CB.

Hoodjer could wind up being PSU's MVP or GOAT.

That was then. This is now. Everybody will be looking for the price the market will bear.
