2025/26 Transfer Portal & Roster Changes Thread

Immediate Attention Required...
An offensive line that takes control of the LOS. Also, big defensive tackles who can stuff the run, then DEs who have the quickness and technique to get to the QB, and linebackers who are intuitive, can quickly get to the ball, and who like to tackle.

Definitely need a 1 or 2 portal WR's to help round out the WR room. Hope the new WR coach can do a thorough review of the returning WR's during the boal game practices and identify portal WR's that would compliment the returning group.

But if I was spending the NIL $$ available to coach Campbell I wouldn't be looking for 5'9" 174lb portal WR's as they tend to disappear in games against the best B10 teams. PSU needs to get back to more physical WR's like the WR's that line up for Uh-high-ya and like those that PSU had within the best WR rooms Franklin had such as ARob, Blacknall, and Godwin. WR's that regularly made 50-50 balls into 80-20 balls with their length, physicality, and catch radius. There will be portal WR's available like those in the next month but it will take real NIL to get them. Which is why Franklin took 3 mediocre portal WR's last year - he wouldn't commit the $$ to get the best available. Campbell needs to change that approach and I believe he was committed the $$ to do it. One top 5 portal WR would seem to significantly positively impact the passing game more so than taking 3 mediocre WR's that don't make plays in the big games. We should know the results by the end of January.

yep he is one who should opt out, he has a 1st round grade by some notable people so it's completely understandable
I don't even care if the guys opt out this year. Some of them almost seemed to opt out in the middle of games this year. There is nothing left that I want to see of those who are moving on. So clear the path and let's see the young guys who want to be here and who might contribute next year. Even if that means we come up short in a meaningless bowl in a crappy overpriced city.

Clemson seems to have a similar situation with PSU as they have significant NFL talent that will also likely opt out of our bowl game so PSU woundn't seem to be at a serious disadvantage in the bowl game due to opt outs. Maybe PSU still has some advantage as Clemson's QB is going to the NFL, not a real high pick as the pre-season predictions, and Grunk very likely plays for PSU.

I'm looking forward to seeing the young RB's and WR's play, see what players may be next year's starting OL, .....

Even though the losses to graduation on defense are signicant, every position of D has played enough players that those that play in the bowl game for the most part have already played a good bit. And at LB all of the players that played this year may return so unless some opt out to transfer there may be no personnel changes in the bowl game.

I don't know Clemson's roster well. I'm sure that they have plenty of talent that won't be playing. For PSU, I think we will take the biggest hit on both lines and that may be too much to overcome. Young WRs and RBs would be perfectly fine but not if the line play is weak. Same on the defensive side of the ball. We'll see how much depth and how ready it is particularly on the lines.

It's an opportunity for coaches Barnes and Connor to maybe earn their spots on the "roster" along with some of the youngsters. Can they coach these players up over the next few weeks?

Yep, PSU may lose the whole starting OL to graduation and/or the NFL. and on the DL losing DDS and Fisher at DE, and Durant and Ford at DL will hurt. But Cousins and Shanahan have started games on the OL (I believe Shanahan started games as a freshman at his prior school), and PSU has substitued young Dlinemen consistently such that Coleman, Kemajou, Harvey, Mayer and could also use a couple of the younger players at DE, and Gilliam, Blanding, White, Wafle and 1 or two of the younger DT's still form a pretty deep DL.

Clemson loses a good bit of their OL to graduation as well as their preseason Heisman consideration QB (Klubnik). And in addition to the Seniors they lose, they will also lose 3 super talented Juniors in a Jr DT (Woods) projected as a top 10 pick, a Jr DE projected top 20 (Parker), and a Jr CB projected as possibly a first round pick (Terrell). So their losses seem pretty similar if not more so than PSU's.
