2025/26 Transfer Portal & Roster Changes Thread

Here's my prediction for next year's portal,,, the number of players entering the portal will be down about 20-25% for this year?

Hopefully the players are learning some lessons from year's debacle concerning things like:
1 - green grass and the other side of the fence
2 - don't trust some "agent" who is talking to you about transferring and how much money you will get
3 - going through the recruitment process is stressful, and once was enough.
I have to believe that #2 is the biggest issue/problem currently. But I think you are right that an equilibrium will eventually be established. It would help if there was a governing body with some reasonable guidelines.

Unless more structure is added to this whole NIL/portal mess what's to motivate enough players to make different decisions that might result in more of an equilibrium? Each player, and their individual advisors, are decision makers for themselves. So many players with so many teams, and with the players making what is likely only the 2nd major decision of their lives. The first being picking a college coming out of high school based upon their own priorities including NIL offers.

Will more players just say to themselves "I like it where I'm at and will try and achieve my goals here because I'm already here and adjusted to life here....". Or "I'm here and am progressing towards a degree and I have a cute girlfriend here I'd like to stay close to...". It seems that too high a percentage of players believe they will be the one's that get enough NIL for their move, similar to how many players in the past put their eggs in the basket of believing they will play in the NFL and didn't believe that getting a college degree compared in priority to that NFL dream.

But I hope you are correct and that through some mechanism, possibly education of the players regarding the risks of giving up their scholarships, that more players just stay where they are and don't end up without a place to continue their education for free, regardless of whether they play more football or not....

This guy needs to bulk up, obviously. Maybe he'll develop into a player. The focus now us on the 2027 class. Which could be an amazing recruiting class.

So for 2027, pay the going price for ~ten 3*s & 4*s, and maybe a 5* like Spell and then supplement with ~fifteen portal guys, aka the older "performance, not potential" players?

I think we'll hit more 4 star level talent in that 2027 class. We have a good bit in our backyard.

Several outlets put in forecasts that Kemon Spell will recommit to PSU. I am also reading that several kids in the portal are getting upset because they aren't getting the offers, NIL, they were told to expect and when they go back to their old team they are being informed that their position is no longer available.
Apparently Tikey Hayes has not found a home.

Some rumors that Tikey had a problem going to class, although, … Is that even an issue nowadays?
You bring up a point I've been thinking about. A kid could transfer and play football in the fall before he flunks out. He could then xfer and do the same at the next school. he could do this for as many times as he wants before his eligibility is up. Correct?

I guess, as long as he is registered and scheduled. Who knows currently what the heck the rules are or if there even are any rules.
