2026 Recruiting Class Thread

Great points and a good reason why you can't take all these ratings as absolute fact. Yes they are accurate for the most part but this example with Sieg is good. Also how does Huhn drop? That seems suspect.

In my opinion we need to step up the D Line recruiting. Second would be WR recruiting. I think all other positions are solid. Our '26 WRs could end up being very good though. Brown is highly rated and Rogers is on the rise and Keys I think could be underrated.

If we can develop some of our high 3 stars into 4 star level players by the time they are ready then this closes the gap in these recruiting rankings pretty considerably by the time these guys are starters. I want to be higher than #16 and we should be for the '27 class but I don't believe we need to be a perennial top 5 recruiting class to have a shot at a NC. I think finishing 7 or 8 one cycle and then be around 9-12 other years should be enough as long as we develop the talent better than other programs and use the portal smartly and strategically.
Looking at a couple recruiting sites, PSU has not recruited well at defensive tackle. Since 2020 PSU has only recruited one or two defensive tackles that were rated 4 star, Durant being one of them. Georgia in the same time period has recruited 9 DT's that were rated 4 star and 5 DT's that were rated 5 star. :(

Maybe. But PSU was #6 in team defense last year. Georgia was #27. I'll take the #6 defense over the recruiting rankings.

PSU was #1 in 2023. Georgia was #9.
PSU was #15 and Georgia was #9 in 2022.

There aren’t 40 defensive tackles that are four or five star each year, You’re looking at may be a dozen. But that position is very important and that’s why George has been in the top five forever now. I think Penn State does a good job of getting the lower rank recruit and making them into a serviceable, though not dominant defensive tackle.

Yeah we are the kings of the 88 high 3 star DT or DE. Which is okay if we can develop them into a 4 star level.

Do we have enough to sway from whatever Oregon cash had been offered? When he sees 2 more PSU OTs in the NFL draft this coming year, he may realize that the money will come if patient. But is that too late?
I suspect PSU could come up with the money but the risk would be offending established players like J Williams.

It hasn't been talked about much, but these kids are getting paid to take visits. On top of that, they can get first class treatment to the biggest games of the year. It's never over.
I don’t think they're paid to take visits but they do get the royal treatment. Deluxe travel, lodging, food, etc are covered and they get entertained at other sporting events or concerts.

Agreed. But if I am 18 year old kid, Oregon would sound fantastic. But when reality sets in, I’d rather be back close to my support structure near home. You get a long term injury I’d like to be close to my family.

You can have the State of Oregon. The place is inhabited by anarchists, freaks and Marxists. I know the facilities and the University are/is probably beautiful, but the politics and indoctrination is poisonous.

The recruiting guy in this video talks about it with Spell and his planned visits this fall. I don't know how it works, but it's out there that visits cost money for the top prospects.

These kids are getting paid. They probably pay 10% income tax in Oregon vs <5% in PA.
