Probably the best place to land for Drew. He will finally get some quality QB coaching. He will have to compete with Howard. He will have to earn it.
They had 3 picks in the third round, so why not?I like it. Good for Drew. They may have been able to get him a little later but he could be a good long term fit if given time to develop. They are going to have to undo Franklin's work and start over but he has the tools.
I like taking him. I just think they could have done so later and used his pick for a higher draft prospect. I'm not sure anyone else was going to steal him at that point. They had 3 picks in the third round, so why not?
When you think about it, he was playing a pretty solid game against Notre Dame prior to the interception. Had that not happened, he may have played in the championship game and possibly been drafted in the first round in 2025.My insider said they loved him. So much of this is PR and selling tickets (check out the rams coach regarding them picking a WB). He’d have gone in the first round had he not stayed back to try and win a championship. This entire class has been stained by their season performance.
I like it. He reminds me a lot of Roethlisberger. He should get a chance to sit and learn from Rodgers. It will be interesting to see how it plays out with him and Howard.
He is not at all like Rothlisberger and that comparison drives me nuts. The only thing they have in common is both are big.I don't know if I agree with the comp to an early Roethliserger. He came out of a prolific college passing offense and was known as a gunslinger back then. He was also extremely mobile and known for his running ability.
Pretty crazy that Allar was still in diapers when Rodgers was drafted.I like it. He reminds me a lot of Roethlisberger. He should get a chance to sit and learn from Rodgers. It will be interesting to see how it plays out with him and Howard.
I guess correlations can be found with the position and age 18-22 development, which can be huge. Not sure where to put this, but interesting to think about....
Interesting factoid about the Allar era.
I think Drew had a difficult college situation. He had a coach that had a tight sphincter and preached no turnovers, he had two different coordinators, he had no good wide receivers.
I do think Franklin really set him back. Whether he can recover and reach his obvious potential with good coaching at the next level remains to be seen. Hopefully Franklin didn't permanently ruin him in a way that can't be undone.I think Drew had a difficult college situation. With that said, his confidence may be shot at this point. I wish him well, and he does have the raw tools.
