Allar to the Steelers

Hopefully Rogers gets on with his life's work and Howard or Rudolph start the season for the Steelers at QB with Allar in the fray for playing time if the offense doesn't get going. But there will likely be a better chance for the offense with a more talented WR group for 2026....

EDIT:
As I've been expressing my opinion about the WR group during the draft to my old PSU buddies, I'm hoping the Steelers take another taller WR in the tail end of the draft so they totally flush last year's WR group out of Pittsburgh, other than Metcalf. Particularly get rid of the waste of a 3rd round pick Wilson who came in from Michigan's cheating driven MNC and has done about nothing.

My insider said they loved him. So much of this is PR and selling tickets (check out the rams coach regarding them picking a WB). He’d have gone in the first round had he not stayed back to try and win a championship. This entire class has been stained by their season performance.

The biggest issue for Drew was his head coach.

A) Even though he had the strongest arm in college ball they never threw deep unless behind very late in games like the TD throw against Oregon with five minutes left in game. D backs never played back.

B). Franklin PREACHED no interceptions making him hesitate and throw late.

C) Franklin kept featuring Singleton when Allen was the better back. This took pressure off the secondary to help stop the run and play cover over fun support. Allen had a far better ability to get into the secondary forcing d backs to stop running plays. This greatly opened up the field for receivers. Plus d backs got tired and banged up trying tackle Allen.

D) Success breeds success. You could see a huge difference in the team after Smith took over.

Interesting situation. Steelers and media all kept saying how good Howard is. But he was hurt and never played.

Will they trade Rudolph and play with a 42 yr old QB and two backups that never played a down?

Will Howard be released or traded? Or will Howard be cut or traded?

Or do they know Rodgers won’t be there? Is there a trade in the works with a team that Rodgers will play for?

🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

When you think about it, he was playing a pretty solid game against Notre Dame prior to the interception. Had that not happened, he may have played in the championship game and possibly been drafted in the first round in 2025.

I like it. He reminds me a lot of Roethlisberger. He should get a chance to sit and learn from Rodgers. It will be interesting to see how it plays out with him and Howard.

I don't know if I agree with the comp to an early Roethliserger. He came out of a prolific college passing offense and was known as a gunslinger back then. He was also extremely mobile and known for his running ability.

He is not at all like Rothlisberger and that comparison drives me nuts. The only thing they have in common is both are big.

Ben would get hit, Shake it off, scramble left, then back to middle, back peddle, then suddenly throw it fifty yards down field.

Drew never scrambled around like that. If nobody got open he would run up the field. He is far more like Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills.

Interesting factoid about the Allar era.

I think Drew had a difficult college situation. He had a coach that had a tight sphincter and preached no turnovers, he had two different coordinators, he had no good wide receivers.

With that said, his confidence may be shot at this point. I wish him well, and he does have the raw tools.

I do think Franklin really set him back. Whether he can recover and reach his obvious potential with good coaching at the next level remains to be seen. Hopefully Franklin didn't permanently ruin him in a way that can't be undone.
