Drew Allar was the best Penn State player against UCLA

Hard to argue. 19 of 26, two TDs, no INTs for 200 yards passing. He also had 78 yards rushing. If you take out sacks, he rushed for 92 yards. That is about 50% of our total rushing offense (again, not counting sacks. If you take those out, it is 54.4%). I should also note that the offense only had THREE total possessions in the first half and that there were at least three drops and a fumble by our WRs and TEs.

Our receivers suck. Surprisingly the O line sucks. The TEs suck. The offensive scheme sucks.
I don’t think the receivers suck, I do think that they are not being coached very well. The receivers were better last year at their other schools and the receivers we lost are magically better at the other schools that they went to. That should be sending a message to people in Lasch.
I think both dinkins and Reynolds are fine, they have not played quite as well as we had hoped, but I think that Reynolds could definitely be Tyler Warren by the time he’s a senior.
How bad this offensive right now just goes to show you how great of a player Warren was.

The best players take over and win games. Like the UCLA QB. Drew doesn't have the toughness or swagger. A good arm that's slow to release the ball and inaccurate 40% of the time.

you can't win if you don't have the ball. PSU with only three offensive possessions in the entire first half. One of those was a TD drive another ended by a complete drop by a WR (ball hit him right in the chest). The last was a turnover on downs with :30 to go.

Again, kudos to the UCLA QB for making things happen on his end. Kinda like Moxie and Mc Sorley.

Warren makes that catch in the endzone on the final drive. I was there up close The ball had some serious velocity and was high but catchable. NFL level catch but certainly a good opportunity.

Our receivers have dropped quite a few passes. Have been wondering if Drew is throwing harder on big games because of adrenaline and the receivers aren’t usrd to the velocity. Seems they get their hands up late.

Hey, you forgot Singleton. The only players worth a darn on offense so far this year seem to be Allar and Allen. Allar seems to be handcuffed most of the time and isn't perfect, but at least I think he has been trying.

PSU should have taken the ball to start the game instead of deferring. Instead, UCLA who had no pressure grabbed the early momentum and never looked back. More bad coaching by CJF in addition to his coaching malpractice at the end of the first half. The entire game he looked totally disinterested.

I’ll disagree with this because the standard procedure is to always defer so that you can make your changes at halftime and come out with with the ball to score to start the second half. Plus if you’re smart enough with your timeouts and the clock ( James is never good at this) you can double up and get consecutive possessions that way.

The first drive the game showed that there was obviously no plan by the defense. And then, while I too probably wouldn’t have expected an onside kick there, one of the rules that we always talk about in coaching is that a wounded dog will do anything to fight to save their life. That was a new coaching staff who was doing whatever they could so you had to be ready for any situation.

That side of the field during the kickoff was noticeably wide open. I even mentioned to some fans next to me beforehand. I didn't know why no Penn State player was over there. That, along with UCLA always getting 6 yards on first down, the wide open Nico runs, the 4th and two play, and the punter running down the clock has made me reassess my understanding of the coaching staff's competency and passion.

Yes, Reynolds is playing very well, as is Dinkins. Reynolds as I remember did miss one catch but the ball wasn't real catchable. The transfer WR's were playing against lowsey competition last season and look pretty average in the B10. None of them would see the field at Ohio St if they stayed there 5 or 6 years. I still believe the WR group would be better if Harrison had stayed and played alongside Denmark, Howard and the other young WR's. Hudson could make a nice 4th WR with his ability to make catches in traffic.
