Drew Allar was the best Penn State player against UCLA

But is he a better receiver than Denmark or Howard?

Or even Martin?

I don't believe so. Right now his best position seems to be sitting on the bench with the other backup RB's.

Well i think we need him as a blocker. So lining him up then splititng him as a second back helps the cause.

Right now, he should be on the bench.

During the Villanova and Oregon games I sent WestSideLion some clips of his runs. They were just so awful it's incredible he is on the roster.

For example... go to 9:40 left in the first of the Villanova game. And tell me 1. There was no hole. And 2. Singleton is a good running back... both with a straight face.

Or 2:30 left in the second against FIu. That Singleton run is so hilariously bad. Both are EASY bug runs and he just finds the *** of his blocker and runs into it.

I don't think Nick has the same speed he had his Freshman year. He has a hard time getting to the edge and outrunning the pursuit, and he gets tripped up easily. If speed is the only criterion, then King Mack should be at RB. The answer is, as a few of you say, put Nick in the slot and rotate Allen with one or two of "the kids".

Just take a minute and watch the FIU play I reference above, if you can.

It's hilariously bad.

I wonder if Singleton would even be the best slot WR/RB on the roster.

But another downside of playing him at RB and giving him all the carries he is getting is that as you pointed out the young RB's are just sitting on the bench watching. And those RB's are in the RB room during game film breakdowns seeing how bad Singleton is in his vision and basic running back skill set (other than the weight room and his 40 yd dash time, likely from his freshman season). After this season Singleton and Katron will be gone, Katron to the NFL and Singleton to his life's work, and both Wallace and Smith have looked pretty good in their limited carries with Martin sort of the unknown at this point. The 2026 team will need 3 good RB's to pair with a new QB, likely Grunk, and I'd hate to see 1 or 2 of this year's backup bolt into the transfer portal. They need to be involved in this season's offense. Franklin said he might rotate the 3rd RB depth chart position week to week but each of them as they are slated as the 3rd RB need 4-6 carries and they aren't getting them. Instead they are watching Singleton run into the butt's of the OL. That has to be discouraging for them........
