Drew Allar was the best Penn State player against UCLA

He was the best Penn State player, but Nico was the best player on Saturday. Still, I don't blame Drew for this. I blame our coaching staff, starting with Franklin.
And then Franklin continues to say "he take responsibility" for the sorry team performance. I wonder what that means in this day and age. It used to mean that he was resigning. But like some of the recent politicians that have said that they say it and then just go forward leading their areas of responsibility the same incompetent way.......

Franklin says he's responsible because he's expected to say it. Some people working for TOS, like TFrank Carr, apparently think that's enough. I don't. I want him to apologize to his team and the fans who have supported the team for not having them ready to go Saturday, and promise it won't happen again. Then I'd like him to talk about some things he's doing to fix it, but I don't think he knows how.

Hey, you forgot Singleton. The only players worth a darn on offense so far this year seem to be Allar and Allen. Allar seems to be handcuffed most of the time and isn't perfect, but at least I think he has been trying.
I don’t think Singleton sucks. There are no holes by the line.

Watch this week when the line actually blocks for a change and Singleton breaks at least two long ones. Plus a couple of ten yrs range runs.

Carr and the others must bite their tongues and play along. People who don't need the access to Franklin and the team can say what they wish to say.
I also think that Kraft should feel some pressure.

I think you're right on the play-along part. It would probably take some big-money donors or a lot of non-renewals to put pressure on Kraft.

Why is Kaytron averaging 7 YPC behind the same line, while Nick is at 3.8? Is it because Kaytron padded his stats with a 67-yard late run against a tired FIU defense, as Nate Bauer suggests? I don't think so. As Landon Tengwall said on his podcast, some of Kaytron's long runs would have been longer, but he was stopped by the end zone. One area where Singleton does outshine Kaytron is in pass receiving, but I don't feel like we've seen much of that yet. Is there a way to get both of them in the backfield at the same time, and why aren't we doing it?

Power I. QB under center. But if the OL can't block...

Because Katron has great vision and a quick side cut. He also has more power. And he doesn’t have great speed and the end zone joke was silly.

Singleton is a fast guy that hits where the hole is designed to be and get through it before defenders can react. But when the hole isn’t there he is screwed.

I have said before, Singleton should be moved to slot back. Let him use his speed and go deep….force backs to play back.

Imagine trying to stop Allen running while also covering Singleton deep and Ross/Hudson wide and Reynolds crossing the middle on a delay pattern.

Then mix it up by faking it to Allen and hand off to Singleton on an inside counter. When is the last time we ran a counter? Or a middle screen?

They either need to feature Kaytron more in single back sets or get them both on the field at the same time. Why can we see it, but the coaches can't seem to see it?

This team should be in two back set 90+% of the time. They are two of your top 5 players (or should be) so get them out there to make the D adjust. Can put one in motion to get a running start on wheel routes, motion Singleton in to the slot to go against a LB/S, have one lead block for the other, run some scissor action in the back field or just go max protect by keeping those two in.

Use Hudson and Pena as the two main WR, Dinkins/Reynolds at TE and then what I said above will make this offense better.

Yep. The big question is whether Franklin and/or Kotelnicki know how to make big changes or whether they convinced themselves that their model is correct and the players just aren't executing. I believe I know the answer to this one, but I'm not telling.

Yep. Agreed. Singleton is a great receiver. He should be running jet sweeps ans going out for passes

Singleton is fast. But only when he's in the open field. He doesn't hit the hole fast and doesnt' push the pile, usually at all, unless it's a goal line play. Katron has worked on his speed and he's plenty fast enough to break off long runs due to his ability to break tackles, vision and decisive cuts.
