Franklin Fired -It’s over...

Not sure why, but I listened. She said with one more win James Franklin would have been the winningest coach in PSU history. She's only off by 304 wins.
Pretty sure she meant BIG 10 wins. —Given my clear visual bias…I’ll give her a mulligan

Joe garnered discipline from all his players, which in turn yielded respect. Franklin brewed up his own concoction of "homies" if you've read some of the player comments closely.

You can't have that **** and have a well disciplined team. Or a great team. Franklin was their pal, not their coach.

The fact that Singleton even saw the field yesterday and the week before speaks volumes about Franklin.

And unlike most here, I'm not blaming this on the OC.

This offense had Franklin's fingerprints all over it.
And the defense just letting Knowles play 2 LBs claiming no one else is worthy of the field yet offenses rip us apart. That UCLA game was inexcusable and looking back he was 99.9% gone then but Kraft and donors had to wait for the third loss and being officially eliminated. Franklin then made it easy with the pathetic NW game while getting our starting QB hurt for the rest of the season.

Gotta believe Kraft has big $ donors lined up for portal purches. I'm also guessing these big donors wanted a change.
It seems to me that we should have had big $ donors lines up during last year's recruiting class. Players like Allar, Singleton, DDS, & Harris must be receiving the lion's share of NIL money in 2025 and all of that money should have be free for 2026 recruits. Yet our class was only ranked 15th.

I don't understand that at all. After losing Rojas we played just 2 LBs (Campbell & Deluca). Opponents would put a RB in motion and split out wide so Deluca would follow him. That left only one defender in the middle of the field when we were already weak at DT.

I understand his preference for a 4-2-5 defense but at some point you have to know your weaknesses (LB & DT) and plan accordingly.

Franklin bet the family jewels on the returns and lost. You can overcome recruiting in the portal.

Knowles? Give me a break. That guy can't coach a defense unless they all have NFL talent.
Oops. I meant the O C Too many Coach Ks. Let Kotelnicki coach and see if his offense is any good without constraints.

Of course with Allar out and a quarterback either no experience the offense will still be limited.

I saw we played Luke Waffle a lot at DT saturday. JK may not yet understand that we don't have the DTs that tOSU has had. NW killed us with runs up the middle.

We just fired 34-8 over the last 3 years. I keep hearing, Pat Kraft isn't messing around, he's playing big boy football. No he isn't. Big boy football is hiring an even better coach and getting better results. Until that happens, it's all words.

He could have been referring to the administration.

It doesn't bother me that he blamed the fans. The fans were booing and players don't like to be boo'd and I don't blame them. Although it seems that the booing was probably mainly directed to Franklin, as he had says, he takes full responsibility..... But the players were on the field and it's not a nice experience as a young athlete to be boo'd.

I don't believe they were "posturing". Just the reactions of young men that put their souls into working towards this season and are probably more disappointed than any fans are about the recent results.

I've personally never booed a player or a team in any sport at any level of competition. Regardless of the frustration I may feel at their performance on the field or the court, my assumption is that they want to win and are trying to win.

My perspective on this was influenced by watching my own son who was captain of his high school basketball team. He was a good player who generally performed well but there were also nights when he was off his game. It happens.

As for hurling profane abuse at coaches or players, I think that's something decent people just don't do. Like, get a friggin' life already.

None of this changes my point on Zakee, however. But I get where you're coming from and certainly respect your view of the issue.

Zakee is virtually the ONLY one who has credibility. Pretty sure nobody on this board has put on a jock for 20+ years, and I’m certain nobody here has played for the man. — Everyone here has their opinion… some reasonable, some self serving. Regardless, they are entitled to it. But nobody here has more credibility than the players. To them there is no ( nor should there be ) line between a siloed business arrangement, and a personal loss. Players have credibility, posters have opinions.

We're talking at cross-purposes. Zakee has credibility to talk about Franklin's qualities as a coach as Zakee experienced them.

But that doesn't mean that any and every word coming from Zakee's mouth must be treated as a kernel of wisdom. Nor does that exempt Zakee from any and all criticism related to deficiencies in the performance of the D the last three weeks, starting in OT against Oregon.

My point is that those deficiencies...and not the clamor of fans...played a hugely more important role in Franklin being fired than did fan sentiment, which in any case was far from unanimous.

It would be nice if Zakee recognized that fact.

Yes, posters have opinions and the purpose of a message board is to exchange opinions. I have mine. You have yours. My opinion is going to be based on my own judgment...not Zakee's...or any other player's.

Here's the thing. Fans spend a fortune to support a major college football team. How much does it cost to travel to State college, buy tickets. concessions, parking, meals, and lodging? It's become insanely ridiculous. It's because of the fans that Franklin makes $8 million, Knowles makes $3 million, Allar makes $3 million, etc. Fans demand a good product for their money so I understand that they boo when things go south. That's their right. IMO it doesn't matter that they never played DI football. That's no me excusing inappropriate behavior. There has to be a limit but IMO fans have a right to speak their mind.
