Inside info

He was already in wonderful financial shape. The buyout stuff is way overblown IMO. Texas A&M's was different as it was $76 million and had no set-off provision. Franklin's salary for the rest of this year was already budgeted. He's a relatively young guy who appears to be in decent health. He's not likely to be sitting around for 6 years, and someone said Audrey Snyder reported that his contract does require him to mitigate damages. So we're probably talking $15 to $30 million at most. Not nothing, but the brand is worth a lot more.
I've had those "mitigation" clauses but they are pretty useless. All you have to do is apply and then document that you weren't hired. A good loud **** during the interview will take care of that. ("Is that Pamb with a B" from step brothers). But they'll probably negotiate an up front buyout so that all parties can move on. Maybe something in the 20s.

Then there are the contracts of the OC and DC should the new HC go in another direction.

Interesting, I wasn't aware of that. I was not happy with the way that firing went down. Especially after he fired the previous guy after one year, when he didn't even get a chance to work with the players in the off-season. But given that context, Franklin probably had the right to fire MY if he disobeyed orders.

If you keep losing subordinates then it's an issue with Franklin not the subordinates.

These aren't analysts, they are professionals.

Thanks. But if he wants to coach next year then it applies, right?

From my understanding, it is exactly the opposite. PSU benefits financially if he takes a new job
Depends on his job. I said before he might take a mid level job or smaller. I truly believe he hates big time because of NIL and the portal.

I think he lost his zest a couple years ago. He just looks different….less energy, less excitement.

Bet he takes a job at a smaller school with less donor BS, less NIL problems, less portal negotiations.

Go back to coaching football, growing boys men, teaching them to be good fathers/husbands/community members. Which was all his stated goals Shen he was hired. Sadly there are no priorities.
