Next coaching candidates

LSU is convinced they're landing Lane Kiffin

Also, now that Dylan Raiola broke his leg and is out for the season, should be able to beat them and their backup QB
The fact that the governor says he’s going to make the choice for the next football coach and his thoughts on the buyout that was given to Kelly might mean that the next guy is going to have an interesting contract. Thus I don’t think Kiffin is their guy.

Right now I still have doubts about the mentality of the PSU players and some staff. Where is their current focus: practicing hard, winning games, being retained by next staff, transfer, NIL disparity, lack of PT? When losing several games in a row and the HC is fired, negativity can take the forefront. Leadership is critical and not sure this team has strong player leaders.

The idea is to fix things immediately. Get a strong FB guy with proven success and who can aggressively salvage and improve recruiting and the roster. There are a few who can get it done alone and some who will need to team up with a seasoned GM/mentor.

Has anyone heard anything about Brent Key interviewing this week? Tyler Donahue reported that and several different media outlets ran with that story.

Living in the South (NC/GA line) & in Texas for a great many years (been to a few games at Bobby Dodd), I do not believe that any Southerner would take a job up north and stay there (see Ted Roof, Geoff Collins, Tom Allen). They will get pulled back just as crabs in a basket won't let any others escape. I asked many a local NC acquaintance if they've ever been to Boston, NYC, or even Niagara Falls. The answer in all cases and always in that over the top good ol boy accent is "now why would I ever want to go up there?" Vacations are typically Destin, Folly Beach, or Pigeon Forge. Maybe some bass fishing in Alabama.

Dabo was almost as successful as Urban and Saban in that era and he is having a lot of issue adapting in this era. I was never a fan of Urban for this job for a multitude of reasons, including adapting to the insanity of modern college football.
I'm thinking that Meyer is a smart guy, and just not football smart. He may actually have more insight about NIL and portal from his current employment that provides connections and unencumbered 3rd person observations across a multitude of programs. He may see what works and what doesn't.

Maybe...but the word is that, when asked, he had no clue.

Likewise, a "yank" living in Auburn or College Station a few years can take its toll. Flat, dusty, humid, fire ants... and yell practice? But then, there is Waffle House, Whataburger and Buc-ees. Elko may or may not enjoy it.

BTW, what would be the interview response acceptable to Pat Kraft regarding one's philosophy and handling of NIL? (Just in case I'm interviewed for the job. Thx.)

Ponder this possibility. The new coach may have been found and an agreement reached, but they are an existing coach who does not want it publicized during a successful season.

This makes perfect sense fot the coach. It seems like this could be risky for PSU as the coach could change his mind before the contract is signed
