Now less than two weeks from.opener. Any intel on depth chart?

But playing out of desperation on a game ending drive when it's not 4th down is just a lack of poise and composure which are bad characteristics for a QB.

Yes you can blame the defense. But football is a team game and the defense was responsible for as many wins as the offense last season. Playing top 5 and top 10 competition some games will get off to poor starts and teams that fall behind have to have the character to stay the course and compete, and eventually make key plays to pull the game out. The QB gets the praise when he makes plays and naturally will get the blame when he makes mistakes at the end of the game. Paterno talked a lot about poise which in footall seems to be all about not getting into a desperation frame of mind and and the players playing each play situationally to make plays to pull out wins when games are on the line. Throwing those picks when he had the option to throw those balls away when the INT plays broke down and he couldn't find an open target showed me he didn't have the poise needed in those games to take advantage of the situation. If he had forced the ball to a receiver on 4th down unsuccessfully that's a different story. Allar just wasn't a real heady QB last season at key times, but I'm hoping that he has matured and will take on those situations better this season. It's what could propel him up draft boards to the first overall pick. Top QB's are just plain playmakers.
Howard had a bad INT for Ohio State. Gabriel got Oregon. ABs aren’t perfect. Brady too. He was also younger than the other playoff QBs by two to three years.

100% agree but they also had mishaps in big games. The defense was shredded against Oregon. It couldn't get a stop vs OSU when they took over at the 3 yd line, and Cam Miller fell down allowing ND to tie the score late in the game.
And allowed the ND backup QB coming in ice cold to complete passes to get them a FG before the half. Switched momentum to them going into halftime.

Hearing that Fisher was not seen at the last open practice and Coleman may start opposite DDS. Also, saw this pic on 247 from practice which may tell us something about the depth chart at OC. Coleman may be outplaying Fisher at this point or at least they are equal. Have not heard much about Fisher all camp except he is a veteran guy. Nothing about his play being exceptional or he has fully recovered from injury, etc. We need him to contribute in a big way.

I don't think Coleman has outplayed Fisher. I think it is a matter of Fisher fully recovering.

Yep, it would be fine if Fisher sits out the first 2 games, letting the young DE's get snaps and learn from their play, and then Fisher comes back for the last OOC game for some snaps and is ready for Oregon. If he is still somewhat recovering and rounding into shape it might be better if he comes back a little slowly so he is ready to play for the B10 schedule.

Someone needs to asks Franklin about Fisher next Monday.....

I hope that is the case because we can't have a Freshman who just showed up outplaying our veteran DE who is a starter.

Unless he's a stud. All accounts are pointing that way.

The staff is high on Harvey and Williams (RS FR), so it's untelling if Fisher has been outplayed, but very likely he is still recovering.

Yesterday's practice wasn't the first one he's missed.
