I was hoping for someone who has the knowledge and disposition of Dershowitz for that AG position. Pam Bondi is the poster child for both Peter Principalism and Un-authenticity. But with the botox and those Fox appearances going on, she's in Trump’s good graces.

Pam has messed up on Epstein in the ways you mention...plus she suggested that the head of the FBI's New York field office was somehow holding back information related to the case and fired him for doing so.

Then a few months later, the whole thing is suddenly a big nothingburger. Nothing to see here...move along.

Meanwhile, Trump is getting ratio'd this morning on his own social media platform while guys like Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, and others...in possibly the biggest instance of begging the question in the history of mankind...declare without doubt that Jeffrey Epstein was used by Israeli intelligence to run a vast sex-trafficking op for purposes of obtaining blackmail material on high-powered people.

The fact that no concrete evidence has been produced to support this lurid claim is a minor detail. People have worked themselves into hysteria and are not about to be talked out of it.

But it's very clear that Trump has no intention of cutting Bondi loose. Also, we've got a MAGA dream team of Patel and Bongino running the FBI. They obviously have access to the files and neither of them have contradicted their boss's statement that there is no information available to support the accusation that Epstein, who clearly was himself a scumbag and a well-connected scumbag at that, worked for either the governments of the United States or Israel. In fact, the Deputy Attorney General said emphatically on Friday that both Patel and Bongino had been fully on board with the DOJ's statement a few days ago.

It's been reported that Bongino is not happy with Bondi to the point that he's considering resignation. I'm guessing that won't happen. In any case, if Dan has any information or knowledge to support the accusations against Epstein, then he needs to quit the peek-a-boo act and ante up. But I'm guessing he doesn't and he won't.

I mean, seriously, do we really want to run the Trump train right off the cliff to the delight of the Dem-Media Party in service to an unproven conspiracy theory about Jeffrey Epstein? It's like the people pushing this are demanding that Trump prove a negative...that their theory is NOT true. I see nothing to be gained by any of this and nothing good to come of it.

I disagree. We don't know the details behind this but we do know that neither Garland or Bondi wanted more information released. I'm also pretty sure that Bondi didn't limit her report without Trump's approval.
 
Eventually, all of Trump's lackeys are "proven" incompetent, or labeled as traitors to the cause.

Hmmm, it almost seems like, maybe, they're not the problem ...

It's interesting that there appears to be some limits to Trump supporter's loyalty.

I could almost buy the 'there is no there there' story if it wasn't for Bongino's objections, which implies there is at least a little meat on that bone.

I am in no way saying that I have reached a conclusion that there is a serious cover up going on. However, nobody is going to give any credibility to what Bondi says. She has proven to be stupid and useless. She needs to be replaced by somebody with real credibility who can actually deal with the mess.

That's a horrible idea. You want to identify everybody who ever visited Epstein. That would set off a huge number of unproven claims against prominent people.

I don't want to cover-up for anybody known to have abused under age girls but I also don't want to start rumors about people who innocently visited Epstein.

These are Trump people. They'd have no reason to cover something up, unless it was to protect Trump or at Trump's direction. Trump has come out and publicly supported Bondi and, basically, scolded people for worrying about this whole Epstein thing. There is no rational way to scapegoat Bondi, without implicating Trump.



On February 21st, she was interviewed, and she was asked a question: "The DOJ may be releasing the list of Jeffrey Epstein's clients? Will that really happen?" and she responded (verbatim) "It's sitting on my desk right now to review ... that's been a directive by President Trump ... I'm reviewing that ... I'm reviewing JFK files, MLK files ... that's all in the process of being reviewed because that was done at the directive of the President from all of these agencies ..."

On February 27th, she sent a letter to FBI Director Patel saying (paraphrased, for brevity) ... "hey, I asked for all the files related to Epstein before you took office and I got 200 pages of docs in response ... flight logs, Epstein's list of contacts, a list of victims names and numbers. I kept asking if this was everything and the FBI told me it was ... then someone in the NY Field Office told me there were thousands pages more, and the FBI never disclosed these. When I talked to you about it, you seemed as shocked as I was ... so now I want all those pages delivered to me by tomorrow."

From this you can fairly deduce the following ... she was after all the information, and wasn't bullshitting, or she was putting up a great front. Folks interpreted her Feb 21st comments as saying she had an actual Epstein list, but you can tell by her comments, when she followed up the "It's sitting on my desk right now" comment referring to JFK and MLK files, that she kinda short-handed the answer and was referring to a clump of files ... a clump she hadn't gone through yet. So she wouldn't have known if she had a specific "list," and didn't meant to convey that she had "THE list." She had Epstein, JFK and MLK files sitting on her desk waiting for review.

So, between the 21st and 27th, she was told there's a crap ton more files and she demanded these. If this was some cover-up/fake, why would she do this? These were covered up files that could have easily remained covered up.

Then she reviews all the files, and they come up with their joint FBI/DOJ memo saying we're not releasing anything further. There's no smoking gun Epstein client list, Epstein committed suicide ... the end.

So, either there's actually nothing here, or Trump is directing the cover-up.

Fine. If they met him at a party or whatever, they can defend that. People understand that Epstein was very connected and invited to events with prominent people who had no idea what he was up to all along. They can defend that. Had you flown multiple times on his personal aircraft to his island, now you will have problems and should.

I have zero loyalty to any single person whether it be Pope, President, politician, athlete, movie star...whoever. I judge people not by their titles or their celebrity but rather by the standard of my principles.

When it comes to politics, I'm a registered Independent but came to the view long ago that the modern Democratic Party is so thoroughly rotten and its platform so thoroughly evil that the overriding priority must be keeping it out of power. Most other considerations are secondary.

This is the prism through which I'm looking at this Epstein thing.
