Showboating, trash talk, late hits, personal fouls, etc. Generally speaking regarding any team in any sport, does it interfere with focus, execution, and winning?
I think it's a fine line sometimes between just being competitive and being a jerk. If a guy can trash talk and back it up I generally have no problem with it as long as they don't disrespect their opponent too much. Some of the best are inveterate trash talkers. Jordan? LT? It's a competitive edge for some. Others may get so caught up in the trash talk that they lose focus. You don't want players late hitting and getting personal fouls all the time, but you want them to play aggressively, right up to the line. Sometimes the line will be crossed, or at least judged to have. I don't have problems with those kinds of plays. It's when a guy loses his cool and hits somebody late or cheapshots someone that I have a problem.
