I just adjusted from 7-5 to 6-6. Probably going to lose at Iowa, at OSU, and at home to Indiana as Grunk takes his lumps in first starts. Hoping we win out after that.
I'm leaving my pick at 6-6 for now. I hope that the players will rally around each other even if they are mad that their coach was fired, and we see a 2011-12 type of us-against-the-world vibe. Terry Smith should have Mike Mauti address the team.

5-7 at best. Almost impossible to win the next three difficult games without a coach and without Allar and Rojas.

So after losing six in a row seniors start sitting out to eliminate chance of injury before the NFL combines and draft.

Underclassmen sit out and declare for the portal.

Coaches will be playing underclassmen to get them experience and keep them from transferring.

A quick hire of Meyer or Grueden would help stop the bleeding but the wound is severe.

I really don't understand PSU's decision. If they had enough of Franklin they should have conducted a confidential search and had their man lined up in advance. Otherwise let Franklin coach out the season in hopes that the 2026 would make a firm commitment in early February. Then replace him with somebody who can reassure them before spring practice.

Conducting a national search and naming somebody in January will be too late. A massive rebuild will take a couple of years.

Franklin was checked out. Kraft made the right call. I don't know how you conduct a confidential search in this day and age. Someone would leak it.

We really don't know that PSU hasn't already gone far on their search. Kraft of others could have already made a few confidential calls to get a feel for the interest before they let Franklkn go.

There are a good many days between now and January, but it also wouldn't surprise me if the "search" does drag out to the detriment of the program....

Franklin looked like a deer in the headlights. Totally dazed and confused.

We lose six in a row and no one commits.

And you can’t run an undercover hire. And once word gif out Kraft would look extremely duplicitous and not trustworthy. Meaning no one would even interview for the job.

In my opinion, with the portal and a coach that maximizes it can drastically limit the amount of time it takes to rebuild. This coach selection is absolutely huge regardless. As long as PSU can spend money as close to the big dogs, they'll be fine.

Rhule still hasn't come out and confirmed to his players that he's not leaving. I think in his mind he's still hoping that he can somehow run the table and look more favorable for the PSU brass.
