Tony Rojas X post

Rojas is fast, but I've often seen him get caught up in traffic, end up chasing, and not wrapping up. I'm not sure if there would have been much of a difference in the outcome had he played in the UCLA game. His attitude is great and he will definitely be needed in 2026, but that LB room needs to be built back up.

I agree with your comments about his weaknesses but I strongly disagree that he wouldn't have made much of a difference vs UCLA (or NW or Iowa). We lost those games by a combined score of 7 points. I think we would have easily won all 3 of those games if we had Rojas.

So, does Knowles know to pull back on his ultra-complex, sophicated defensive scheme and install something that can best utilize personnel while matching up against OSU? Maybe a 4-3 and holding the edge. I'm not sure, but a change in plans is needed.

Going forward, "purchasing" a smart, talented MLB will go a long way in helping the 2026 team. I'm watching the UNL-Iowa and the LBs are underwhelming. LBs like Parsons, early Carter, and others with attitudes who enjoy blowing up the opposition are expensive, but key to holding the defense together.

IMO Rojas would have made the difference vs UCLA, NW, IA, & Indy. Instead of being 5-6 we would be 9-2.

LB & DT were our weakest positions coming into the year so losing Rojas was an absolute killer. He was a bigger loss than Allar.

UCLA lost by 5
NW lost by 1
IA lost by 1
Indy lost by 3

That's 4 games lost by a total of 9 points and a common theme was getting gashed up the middle when we had 0 or 1 defender in the middle of the field.

To be fair PSU should have been able to win at least 3 of those games even without Rojas.

P.S. Do you realize how difficult it is to lose a football game by 1 pt? PSU has seemed uncanny in their ability to do that in the last several years.

At this point I'd be happy with a good Gino Capone type run stuffer at MLB. That's how desperate I am.
