The player that intercepted Drew's pass was cherry picked from Perdue, and a lot of their other starters were from the portal. Indiana I see had 23 incoming transfers in one year, and look at their success. It's well known Dabo has refused to invest much into transfers and it seems to have cost him.
Just seems the way to go when you can't recruit with the likes of OSU and Oregon. Looking at how good Oregon is recruiting, plus the portal players since NIL they will be the team to start winning National Championships every year. Penn State only hope is to starting doing what it seems Indiana is doing.

Honestly, I dislike the whole paying players and what it has done to college football, I doubt I will even watch it next year.

Spending by university on their football program. I read, not sure where, that Oregon spent over $30m on players this year (in the top four) and tOSU spent $20m last year. That tells you where this is going.

PSU will need to compete at this level over the next year or two just to maintain some footing and protect the brand that JoePa built (yes, I said it). The 107k+ seat stadium with a close to $1B rework and with all the Big10 + merch + good will $$$, then spend the freaking money to deliver a product. Also, hire a football board of directors that includes non-DEI experts like Meyer and Saban to ensure that players, philosophies, and team goals are congruent. Right now, there is an East Stroudsburg guy and a Wisconsin River Falls guy running the offense.

. I doubt atmosphere means much to recruits these day's, unless Schools are paying the same amount of money.
