Trumps Big Beautiful June Surplus

May 24 deficit was over $347 billion so there is that. April 25 surplus was greater than April 24. March 25 better than March 24. Trending in the right direction. No reason not to take notice.
Best case is tariffs might help reduce the deficit by $100b - $200b. No tax on tips & OT will consume most of that.

To further put this in its proper perspective, this is the first time in 20 years(!) that the government has run a surplus in a month. Tariffs may have brought in $27B, but more importantly, the way Trump is using them is encouraging significant investment in this country, and that is boosting the economy and subsequent domestic tax receipts.

Interesting read.............. An impressed Trump hater.

He tried to keep Trump from a second term. But six months in, 'I'm very impressed.'

Rather, Hutson credits Trump with achieving a good deal of what he promised during the 2024 campaign.

Securing America's borders. Forcing U.S. allies to cough up more for defense. Bringing Iran's nuclear program to heel. Taking on the country's unfair trade partners.

He still doesn't much care for Trump's abrasive personality, the name-calling and denigrating of people.

But Hutson's conversion shows that in a country deeply dug into oppositional camps, where political views appear cement-hardened into place, there are still those open to persuasion and even willing to change their minds.

As confounding as that might seem.

False. But you already knew that.

False, again. But you already knew that, too.
