Week 5: #6 Oregon at #3 Penn State (Tonight 7:30 PM EDT, NBC, Peacock) Game Day Thread

The chatter about the OL before the season fooled me. I was was told (or thought I was told) that they were NFL caliber. There are championship players and coaching missing on this team, but get to the playoffs and hope for the best. Kraft and Franklin may need to convene after the season and talk about acquiring talent.
I said the OL was a strength because of our depth, not because we had elite players.

That said.... I remember our running game struggled vs Rutgers with Akeel Lynch. The OL looked really bad until Saquon Barkley entered the game. All of a sudden the OL looked better. It certainly looked better with Allen than it did Singleton.

I remember the discussion 15 years ago on OL tactics. I think the OL coaches before Trautwein believed positioning or screening best fit the RPO. There was a loss of knowledge on how to drive an opponent out of the way. Is this the case today? I'm not sure, but road graders are my preference.

Oh great. Nice way to start game day...reading the assessment of an alleged "quarterback guru" that the Oregon QB is the best in college football through the first month of the season while Drew...sucks.

Link below.

OK, obviously he didn't use the word "sucks" but I think that's a real-world translation of his comments:

Well regrettably the "quarterback guru" seems to have been on to something.

James is an administrator and (essentially) a politician. He will never lead a team to a championship. For the money he's being paid, I'm not OK with that.

What offensive or defensive unit could James step into during a time of trouble to provide coaching support to make it better?

I didn't go through all the posts made post-game but anyone else here believe that if Pribula was the PSU QB last night that we would be celebrating a big win today.....?

If he practiced as the starter since spring, then yes. He would have been a better fit for AK's schemes, and would have kept the DBs honest.
