Week 6: #7 Penn State at UCLA (3:30 PM, CBS) Game Thread

Look. We have wrs who did just fine at other schools against similar defenses to Villanova.

So the Wrs aren't the issue
Keep saying. But the WR's are a BIG part of the problem.

UCLA WR's get separation and are pretty open targets for their QB. PSU WR's only get open on a blown coverage and so far this game UCLA has them covered.

Winless UCLA whose program is in shambles...with a new coach and a new offensive coordinator...marches down the field against our supposedly elite D to take an early 7-0 lead.

If Joe's upper classmen would have started a game the way these guys have they would all be sitting on the bench.

Has Singleton ever dragged anyone forward when they tackle him?

All the weight room records don't seem to translate to the field.

Notice how the UCLA RB's drag the PSU LB's and DB's 2-4 yards after contact, where as Singleton just stops when a defender gets a good tackle on him....

Well Drew looks in rhythm at least. Good protection. WRs getting open. Running game working. 10-7.

UCLA has talent, especially at QB. Teams can quit or bow up in this situation and play for each other and the coaches. They don't appear to be quitting. How do you prepare for tendencies on offense when the coaches are completely different? Not a good start, but I think we'll be fine. 10-7. I figured 42-10 before the game. Their offense may be a little better than expected if Nico keeps playing well.

This D looks far from elite right now. Lack of focus. Classic post-loss letdown which has become another Penn State trademark in the Franklin era.

Meanwhile, Nico picks today to spring to life for UCLA. Naturally.
