Week 7: Northwestern at Penn State (3:30 PM, FS1) Game Thread

OK, so it seems that we figured out that most of the problem on offense was Singleton. Now, if they could just quit playing Clifford so much then I think we’d be OK. He’s already been in for at least a half dozen plays for these two drives. And they’re trying to throw him the ball.

I think we need to get Singleton into the game so it doesn't look like favoritism. That's what great ambassadors of the university would do.
I have no problem with Singleton getting some carries, but last week was ridiculous. They had him completely figured out and we kept putting him back there and expecting different results.

The fourth quarter with a big lead will work.

Knowles assumes because he never sees a 20+ yard in practice that no one else uses them. We have 3 of the most overpaid coaches in all sports.

Zebras doing the usual Big Suck hose job. Ref-manufactured personal foul against our D sets up TD throw to give Northwestern the lead.

Seriously, it's hard to play the other team...and the officials too. And we have to do it every week. It starts to wear on a coach's mind.

That said, there's still no excuse for UCLA...or for what I've seen so far this afternoon with Northwestern keeping the game competitive halfway through the 2nd quarter.

And.......... Singleton runs into the pile when cutting it up the middle is open.

Edit: Twice.

And then Boooo's on the first and goal cute play not executed.

I wonder what Koltenicki is thinking when he plans, scripts, or calls plays. He has zero feel for the game and what is working. One half over and zero passes or completions 20 yards or more. Does he think that defenses do not know his tendencies?

The stars have to align for PSU to go the the half with a lead and Franklin pulls his normal "we're so good we can call timeouts and get more points' and it gives NW a chance to score again. Especially combined with stupid penalties.

I watch high school football on Friday's and most of the H.S. coaches have a better feel for football strategy, time management, ... that James Franklin.

Stupid penalties is their calling card. There's a lot wrong with this team. Culture, effort, FB IQ, play calling, play execution, playing time favoritism, showboating, personal foul penalties, and a "Pennsylvania guy" who "gets it".
