Week 7: Northwestern at Penn State (3:30 PM, FS1) Game Thread

It's Rooney rule, and that's NFL only. I don't think Franklin was really DEI hire - he was a good hire at the time. He's done some good things. He's been a great recruiter and good ambassador. He's had us right there near the top much of his tenure. But he has not progressed much as a coach. This season, he couldn't handle the high expectations. He supposedly had alignment on everything that he needed and tried to convince us that brighter days were ahead. Maybe they are. But it probably won't be with him as coach.

He's a bum. There's no denying it. This,"team" has given up.

The WR weakness, I can see how it happened. But Franklin, Diaz, Allen,... they got a good many of their LB targets and they are on the roster.
For PSU, I will always want game-changing, havoc-causing disrupters at the LBU. Not fast arm-tacklers or unintuitive, flat-footed types. I don't see it in Wylie, Speca, DeLuca, Rojas, or Campbell. Saw the same thing with Farmer, Smith, and other highly-touted recruits.

We definitely are a poor tackling football team. His team needs a coach who goes back to the fundamental a la Joe or a guy like Pat Fitzgerald. I know everybody wants to play the game where you score 40 points but we need a guy who will come in And try to just beat up everybody that we play against and win 21-17

Franklin was asked several times about being the head coach. He just kept saying he takes full responsibility.

Saw this Gruden name pop up a few times on the other site. Isn't he a pro guy? What would he deliver?
Gruden doesn't seem like he'd be a long term solution. Maybe a long term solution isn't in the cards, but we were so spoiled for so long it always seems to be the goal.

I'd rather see a real good college coach, young enough to be at PSU for 20 years. Is the IU guy young enough? He seems to be aggressive enough, and knows how to do more with less. Don't have to have a big, lightning arm'd QB. Just a winner that makes plays, runs smart and is accurate.

Unfortunately, he's in his 60s.

Kraft could offer James a settlement that would work, I believe. Everything is toxic, there won't be any improvement, and it will get more toxic. I would not want to deal with such abuse for five more years if I am offered a discount to get out. A lump sum settlement is the best option and I think Franklin would be open to it.

You'd think the team would play lights out for Coach Franklin, for each other, or at least for dear old State. It didn't happen. Not skilled enough or emotionally strong enough. May that's what we get in this age of mercenaries.

Our guys are great at celebrating tackles though.

DDS had an entire sack dance post TFL when we were losing in the 1st
