And now we lose Rojas

Wylie, DeLuca, Speca, Nelson. I guess you go with the best LB, Mike or not Mike. Curious if someone like Coleman could be helpful here, and could even learn while doing it. A young Abdul Carter.

He was tackled by an O lineman on a pass rush on 2nd qtr, IIRC. Had to come out for awhile.

He played some in second half so I don’t know if that was the play. A terrible hold…..not called. 🤬

Spin, it's in the Big Suck's bylaws: holding and tackling are allowed against Penn State pass rushers...especially against our team's best pass rusher. Last year it was Abdul. This year is it was Dani. Next year it will be somebody else.

This is why I was rooting so hard for Notre Dame last year against Ohio State in the final...

Are there any stats on who's making the tackles? I believe I heard on one of Tengwall's podcasts, that it's still the DBs making the majority of the stops on the running plays. The DL and the LBs need to step up as a unit.
BTW, I was doubting Rojas last season (go to Youtube highlights of the first TD runs by both USC and Boise St. to see where I'm coming from), and maybe he's more intuitive this year against the run, but I think any replacements, if thrown into things now, will eventually benefit and hold their own.

That's a huge loss we could hardly afford at this point
The key will be Knowles' understanding of the situation and the adjustments he makes, no doubt. But hopefully, somebody gains instant fame at LB, just like Coleman did at DE. On offense, I'm hoping the reserve RBs and WRs get some work and surprise, as well.

Fortunately we have two weak teams and a bye to work on it.
Time for Wylie & Speca to step up to fill along with Tastch. Certainly Campbell & Deluca will start but the other three have to be thrown into PT to build depth in the next three weeks. After 3 weeks it's a much more difficult schedule. Game speed is the best teacher. They'll make some mistakes and that will be the best instruction. There will be more game tape to review to correct them. "Geter done"!

Looks like we'll play even more 4-2-5

I read (admittedly from a fan post) that Speca is not that impressive. What about Wylie? What do we have after Campbell and Deluca? Tatsch has been talked up by Knowles but he is so young. Then the other Freshman who Franklin mentioned.

Speca was talked up during Spring & Fall camp but his reps aren't matching the talk. Still, out of him, Wylie, Tatsch (Freshman), and perhaps Cam Smith (Freshman), Connor & Knowles can find two they can rely on.
