I am hearing rumors about amnesty plans

It’s like you are arguing about if the bank robber has a Glock or a smith and Wesson. He’s guilty. It doesn’t matter if he has the tattoos or not.
If you had to 'solve' the immigration problem, what would you give up to come to some sort of resolution?

The working assumption is that the right is going to be unhappy and the left is also going to be unhappy, but both sides have to give something in order to come up with something better than what we have now.

It's OK that you don't understand what the Constitution says, and how it's been interpreted. I don't expect you to ... you only understand what Trump tells you to think.

Right now, a child given birth at Miami airport by a UK citizen IS a US citizen (assuming that child isn't the child of a diplomat). And it's been that way for quite some time, per the Constitution. There's a wannabe dictator trying to change that, despite being violative of the Constitution, but, as yet, he hasn't been entirely successful in destroying our representative democracy.

I may even agree with you that this *shouldn't* be the case - i.e. I wish the law was different ... but I also believe in rule of law, and the Constitution provides for birthright citizenship in that instance. Change the Constitution if you want to change this. It's very straightforward. It's not OK to short-circuit our Constitution to get our way.

I remember when you guys used to pay lip service to the Constitution as a way to try to rationalize your views and behaviors. That was your primary argument in most instances ... "but I believe in the Constitution, not like you ..." is something we all heard over and over again when there was a difference in interpretation. We knew you didn't really mean it - that it was just an argument of convenience ... but now that you've found someone to lead you who really doesn't give a crap about the Constitution, you threw that fake argument to the side, and now proudly flaunt your disdain for the supreme law of the land ... replacing it with a wannabe dictator's whims.

Not anymore. Until the Supreme Court rules the baby is not a citizen.

It's interesting how PeePee the multiple bans disbarred Whale shark of the small mind doesn't understand that what he is talking about is interpreted from the amendment.

This wasn't the intent of the amendment, nor is it what is explicitly says.

Held a job for five years while in America

No crimes worse than a speeding ticket while in nation and no misdemeanors for five years moving forward,, or you could be deported upon conviction

No govt paid entitlements for five years paying into the systems (Medicare and SS)

If it doesn't matter if he has the tattoos or not, then why did Trump keep mentioning it as evidence that he was MS 13 and to support his deportation?

I'm arguing basic competency and common sense. I'm arguing to see if you are wholly brainwashed into the cult, or if you have retained some ties to the real world.

It's very simple ... yet you've been avoiding it ... Is the "MS 13" written out on that photo a real tattoo, or something superimposed onto the photo?

It's totally fine for a baby born here to be a US citizen, but that doesn't mean the parent can't be deported and take her US citizen baby with her. The child of course, would be free to return when of age.

A baby born to diplomats, who are here legally, is not a US citizen. Yet a baby born to an illegal or visitor is? The Constitution is clear, an obscure one off targeted ruling is what has been misinterpreted and then never challenged for additional clarification. There hasn't even been a case where parents renouncing citizenship as an issue has been brought to the Supreme Court. This has never been a big issue because numbers were low, but now it's become an issue that will brought to the Court.

I am no longer going to engage in this line of conversation. I really don’t care whether he had tattoos or not. I only care that he was a guest in this nation, who was no longer welcome due to his miscreant activities. That’s the bottom line I don’t care the way he dressed if he had studsif he were tennis shoes if he drove a Toyota where he shaved his head. None of that matters to me.

This is, of course, false. The Supreme Court barred the EO from taking effect for 30 days from its ruling on June 27. But you already knew that. Actually, you probably didn't. And that's sad, even if expected.

Do you think this is worse than Obama repeating the "very fine people" lie as recently as the 2024 election? Just curious on your logic.

Right, so you avoid reality to push propaganda. Got it.

How about a fine, then 10 year visa with time served coming off it, and a path to obtain citizenship? Automatically jumping to citizenship only perpetuates the problem. There needs to be a penalty significantly greater than what a legal citizen went through.

Please show the fake tattoos. Thanks

Ok, that would be a start. I have asked this question of liberals at least 10 times (I know that you are not a liberal) and they will never answer with any specifics. Their answer is essentially complete amnesty for everyone unless they are a convicted rapist or murderer - pretty much no compromise whatsoever.

Anyway, here would be my list of give and takes:
- Because I don't like to reward bad behavior by Democrats, anyone who crossed the border after Biden is deportable. After all, you can't honestly make the dreamer claim that you don't know any other country. Possible give some seasonal work permits in areas of need.
- Anyone who hopped the fence pre-Biden, partial citizenship, which would include not being deportable, but not being able to vote.
- Place tight limits on chain migration
- Give 'Dreamers' full citizenship
- Expand seasonal work permits
- Up the number of legal yearly immigrants to, say, 4 million immigrants total and include illegal border crossings in this number. So, if the Dems let border security lapse and let in 3 million illegals, then only 1 million legal immigrants that year
- No catch and release. Asylum claims must be made from their home country.
- Illegal immigrants not counted in the census to use in calculating representatives

Awe, look at you with your attempts and prioritization of semantics instead of substance. From your post you know the executive order stands, especially with no case imminent to challenge it before that date. So, if it makes you feel better to think the minor delay was a victory, I will allow it. I'm magnanimous that way.
