Michigan scandal thread

I am sure it will be extreme. Banning Harbaugh for ten games ……oh wait.

Fining coaches/staff already fired.

A minor fine equivalent to what a backup punter gets in NIL money.

A big tsk tsk followed by probation….”don’t do it again you bad little boy”
Initial speculation is a bowl ban, which means no playoffs if they qualify, for at least two years. They also talk about abandoning some wins (who cares?). They may lose some 'ships as well.

They’re going to reduce coach moores suspension to 1 game, allow Michigan to go above the 105 roster limit for the next three years, give them an extra home game each year on the conference for the next three years and take away 5% of tv revenue for all schools in the conference, not named Ohio State to give to dUMb.

Maybe....but I am encouraged that they are announcing this before the season starts. First, lets get this in the rear view mirror. Second, the timing suggests that missing a bowl or bowls is in play. Perhaps limiting a few 'ships as well. I really don't care about vacating historic wins. I'd love to see them miss two years of bowls, though. I think that would hurt both in revenue and in recruiting. One can dream!

If there are any bowl suspensions they should open the portal window. Why punish current players for things that happened before they enrolled and/or had nothing to do with it?

To me, the fact that they’re announcing that there will be an announcement tomorrow means it’s going to be a big nothing burger. If they were going to really put the hammer to them, they would’ve just come out and announced it today like they did with Joe and us.

And they would've shat the bed with Joe and us had our bot not been so stupid and obsessed with Joe

I've been following the 247 thread since it began. They kept info and tweets flowing. Some things of note:

-every team who recently had Level 1 violations has been subjected to a post season ban. (Michigan has SIX on this COI and is currently on probation from Burgergate)
-every team who recently had Level 1 violations has vacated wins from the seasons involved. (This would lead to 3 Big 10 titles and their national championship to be vacated)

I don't know what they will do, but my guess is:

-2 or 3 year post season ban
-vacate the wins from '21-'23 (titles would then be revoked by the awarding party's)
-recruiting restrictions based on the # of visits they can offer, in homes they can do, etc (unlikely a scholly restriction since the NCAA isn't over that no more, but perhaps they could limit roster spots)
-8 digit fine
-suspension of Moore (unknown the game #s; Michigan wanted 2 and wanted to pick them, I assume it's more than 4)
-show cause notice for Harbaugh, Stallions, etc

Michigan has long cried "NCAA overreach". They wouldn't have went to the COI if a 1 year bowl ban was the gist of it.

That is alot. They would deserve it based on their lack of cooperation and denials but I don't think the NCAA has the guts to do it. Really disappointed that the B1G Commissioner went to bat for those out and out cheaters. He disgraced himself.

All the commissioners write these letters. Sankey did it for Tennessee most recently. It's just a comraderie type of thing. "Don't hurt my conference too bad"

Although I really think he shouldn't have sent it, I understand why he did.
