Next coaching candidates

2-23 vs. the Top 25, and THIS is our top candidate? Rhule sure seems to want the job, but he better make darn sure the Cornhuskers win in Happy Valley. Gonna be a hard sell if he loses to an interim coach and a backup QB. That game is essentially his audition

I did not see this posted anywhere. Anyway, maybe Joe Brady, OC Buffalo Bills.

A couple of top reporters are tweeting that PSU has already had a conversation with Drinkwitz (mizzou) and there is mutual interest.

Drinkwitz's body of work? Same with Brady. We. Are. Mizzou/App St.
Sorry, they don't move the needle. Anyway, if an NFL name will do it, then why not Bill Belichick?😬

Lots of people think it is Ruhle. And that may be. But this is the decision of Pat Kraft's life. PSU has had double digit wins the last three years. The new coach will have to win at least 9 games with a Sophomore QB (unless we get a transfer). If he picks Rhule, they both go down together. If it were me, I wouldn't pick Rhule because he hasn't earned it IMHO. He hasn't led a program to a great achievement.
If Urban is a pipe dream, I am starting to lean towards Hartline. Great recruiter, excellent position coach, and has come up through a winning system. He may have to learn on the job a bit, but why not go with a young enthusiastic motivator rather than some older retread.

IMO, he needs to win out. He actually may just be leveraging for more concessions at Nebraska.

Hartline. The next Venables or Fickell?
Again, salvaging the brand needs an immediate home run. A disciplined builder who's been through it, has succeeded, and who will hit the ground running. It'll cost, but it is what it is.

Saban in the mix apparently? Apparently declined but hasn't shut the door completely

I don't think he wants that stress anymore. Perhaps he has been called to offer some recommendations (names) or advice on what they have to look for in a new head coach.

Again, hard NO to Rhule!

The question is whether the new coach has the attraction and the experience to immediately pull in a bunch of 4*s and a few 5*s, whether HS recruits or via the portal. Saban, yes. Meyer, yes. Drinkwitz/Campbell/Rhule/Hartline/Smith/Brady, no.
After 11 years of Franklin and the PR baggage, another business as usual, though competent, coach will drag this program malaise out further. (My actuary says that the sooner the better if I ever wish to see another Natty in Happy Valley.)

Are you serious? Hartline is one of the best, if not the best recruiting assistant in the country, and not just wide receivers.

How about the next Kirby Smart or Dan Lanning, both were assistant coaches prior to being named head coach.

Saban didn't win anywhere he couldn't be one of the top Cheaters including MSU and the NFL.

Unless kraft is going to be all in on rule breaking I can't see Saban as a viable candidate....
