Some nice comments about how the CB position has sorted out in Fall camp so far.

Definite clarity from Coach Smith. He's definitely worth whatever they are paying him. Great coach and representative for PSU. Fully understands the history and yet embraces the necessary changes.
 

New For The Blogy on the variations of Wide Zone AK used last year.
I really like the formation of having a covered wide out on the LOS. You absolutely must cover this guy. If you don't, right before the snap, he takes a step back and becomes eligible. The CB would have a difficult time seeing who is on the LOS and who is not (to get the required number on the LOS). The coach can see how the previous plays are covered and simply call down to the next option if the covered wide out isn't covered (left side slot steps up, right side slot steps back, ball is snapped, defense is screwed). I never saw that before.

Knowles calls Chaz Coleman the "Chazmanian Devil". Said he's athletic, smart, and doesn't like to make mistakes. Continues to improve and impress.
I saw on a separate interview of Ciach Knowles that he is concerned when asked about LBer depth. Indicated right now only the veterans (Rojas, Campbell & Deluca) can be depended on. Said Tasch (true Freshman) is showing promise for future. Inferred that Wiley and Soeca need to upbtheir play in camp for him to depend on them. He said he has played having only three reliable LBers in the past but doesn't like it. I guess if Speca & Wiley don't pick it up they will have very limited reps. Hopefully the light goes on for them the remainder of camp and OOC. He said the three (Speca, Wiley, and Tasch) are getting lots of camp reps because he wants the three veterans rested and injury free.

This is nothing new. He thinks Franklin is a lousy coach because he never wins the big games. His opinion is not unlike some PSU fans just the difference is he has a national show to state his opinion.
