Off Season and Pre Season Articles Thread

I don't think anyone is counting on White to contribute anything this season. His best bet is to go hard in the weight room all year and put on the necessary weight to compete at DT next season. We'll have 2 starters moving on at DT next year. He should have a reasonable shot at being in the 2 deep for 2026.
Does he have two yeas? He burnt his redshirt @ A&M, he was there 3 yrs.

As I think about it, a big key for us this year is Fisher's play. We are thin at DE. I guess I was hoping that White would be able to make an impact this year and with that now out the window and with Granville injured it leaves 2 RS frosh in Williams and Harvey and a true Frosh in Kemajou as our top depth guys. We also need one or all of these young guys to make an impact. The better teams could double DDS or whatever and if Fisher is not that impactful then we could have a weak pass rush. Also they could have success running to Fisher's side.

Along with needing Allar to step up more in the big games with the WRs actually getting open; the D-Line play and I would say DE is the other big question mark.

Wasn't Fisher also pretty good vs the run when he was able to play?

Not sure many of our main concerns (QB/WR mesh, DEs, and DTs) will be answered until we watch them against Oregon.

As far as I remember, yeah, Fisher was solid at run stoppage and average at rushing the passer (though I feel like he might be a "run off the field on 3rd down" kind of guy in 3rd and long pass rush situations). He never felt like a liability, but he just never was more than a depth piece when healthy.

Definitely agree about Oregon. This roster is talented enough to win 10 games for certain. Not even concerned with any given Saturday circumstances right now (somebody will bring up Iowa, Indiana, Nebraska but again, that's a game week conversation). Our questions have to produce vs Oregon or else we are heading for the same as last year.

Agree Dave, Oregon will be the litmus test, not the OOC.

I agree unless we look incredible but even at that you have the competition factor still.

My main concern is when we play OSU or in a big time playoff game against an Alabama or Georgia or Notre Dame or Texas or OSU again and our DLine won't hold up and that will be the difference in the game.

Not really sure what to make of the Zuriah Fisher call out. Just says he had some bumps and bruises but Franklin has faith in him and he will start across from DDS.

None of the beat people ran with it or made any mention of him being absent so it's probably a throwaway comment. Next media availability is Tuesday. If something stands out then, it will trickle out.

Of note though, JVen Williams apparently has a club on one of his hands and it barely got mentioned/remembered on the 247 podcast.

When those games occur, playing with confidence and a will to win is essential. Talent being similar mental toughness, especially from the captains makes a difference. They must exude confidence and make plays.

Mental toughness is something we have lacked certainly in winning time in these big games vs equally talented teams (sans USC last year).

That can be difficult to play with; especially for an inexperienced player. Tough to punch and control the DL players for leverage.
