Off Season and Pre Season Articles Thread

I believe Drayton brought this drill with him. One of the podcasts mentioned today that on the 2nd move they make, the players are encouraged to get creative with how they escape from the ball (elude pursuit).

Primarily, I shared to show the freshman WRs. They all have a variety of builds, but something stands out as impressive about them all.

The post I originally saw sharing this said something like "Iowa fans have been so starved to see a forward pass that this clip now has 2.5 million views."

Multiple other versions exist. All making fun of them. And I'm here for it.
Crazy to get excited about a single clip especially when it is a non contact practice.

Some interesting comments by new RB coach Drayton. Talks about teaching defenses to our RB, knowing LB flow, blitz reads, etc. Primarily, anticipation. He said the instincts and reactions were here, but he didn't feel our RBs anticipated well.

We always heard about Seider, the recruiter. Very little about Seider, the coach. If we can see subtle improvements, these guys could be improve drastically.

Also, interview with Khalil Dinkins tacked on.

Kudos to this guy for staying. Kudos to our culture in the TE room. Players stay. They are developed. And they get drafted.

The discussion on the young DE's around 10 to 20 minutes in alone is worth watching this.

Also good discussion on the competition for the RB3 spot.

Drayton. = upgrade from Seider. RB teacher of all aspects and intricacies.
RB3 competition ongoing. No one has "stacked" enough consistent practices to claim the spot at this time.
Like them, I think Chaz Coleman has a great future @ DE, maybe not this year but 2026 & beyond. Big, athletic, bend, quickness and is now focused solely on one position after playing three positions in HS.
RG battle is day-to-day between Donkoh & Cousins. Nice problem to have. Sounds like Cousins has a serious nasty streak. They said he trucked Alonzo Ford, Jr. (DT) and talks lots of smack against the defense while backing it up.
Three Freshman WRs seem to becstanding out (in no particular order): Josiah Brown, Jeff Exinor, and Coby Howard.
WR transfer looking good and Kyron Hudson stands out as a leader/WR/Mentor. I think he could end up being selected as a captain by the players.

Those were highlights that stood out to me.

Good summary.

A few other notes:
-Blanding at DT has twitch and seems to be a key depth guy.
-They were talking up Coleman but did say they think Kemajou is our #1 Frosh DE.
-Donkoh was practicing with the guards so it seems RT is Rucci and RG is Donkoh. Cousins I am sure will play a lot.
-Anticipate plays or packages called for Quinton Martin. Drayton likes what he has seen with Martin being able to run in between the tackles.
-I took away that Cam Wallace may be leading for RB3 but no guy has separated himself.
-Singleton and Allen need to understand defenses better. This will help Singleton break more long runs.
They didn't say this but because Rapp is still coming back from injury I inferred Reynolds is the #2 TE. Apparently in some drill with a big ball he hurdled it showing off his athletic ability.

LB group seems pretty deep and talented to me. Lots of experience for the top 3 or 4 LB's, and the freshman class looks like the future of the position.

LA Jr. seems like a talent, and I like the fact that he's not on Twitter or other social media, just putting his work in and getting after it instead of taking any limelight for granted as the son of the GOAT PSU LB.

I think I also heard in that podcast that Kemajou is #1 frosh DE but Coleman picking up responsibilities. PSU has seven solid young DE prospects behind DDS & Fisher.

Can't have enough quality RBs as attrition could potentially happen.

I missed that on Blanding. Glad to hear he's in the mix.
