It’s one thing to decide to take trips, it’s another thing to come out with a list of “ the teams with the best chance of flipping me.”He announced a month ago that he was taking visits. He's hitting all the big games over the next 3 months. National reporters are chatting with him. He's increasing his value. Remaining a top 10 5*.
Of course, his 13 touch, near 400 yard opening game does a lot of talking for him.
Just listened to Landon who by the way is excellent. I agree with him and think this is clearly not good news and I think Spell will be decommitting. Somewhat surprised given our strong track record with RBs but the family is shopping for the best payday and they see his value increasing. It’s one thing to decide to take trips, it’s another thing to come out with a list of “ the teams with the best chance of flipping me.”
He’s either already gone, or is on a serious ego trip, more than the usual top recruit.
These "commitments" aren't worth the cost of the fax machine. He's negotiating. He's checking his value on the open market. He probably is seeing what the kid that just committed to Michigan is making and seeing that Allar is making $3m this year. I'd do the same thing. He is one checkup or knee away from working at State Farm. It is smart for him to make all the money he can. Perhaps he'll finish with $10m in the bank regardless of the NFL. He can go invest in a few franchises or a car dealership. Better than working at Cracker Barrel.
Obviously chasing $$$$$$$. I wonder if he has an agent as well as a group of family & friends in his ear egging him on.Just listened to Landon who by the way is excellent. Maybe have a few NIL bucks available for mom and dad. Call it a consulting fee.Obviously chasing $$$$$$$. I wonder if he has an agent as well as a group of family & friends in his ear egging him on.
The sad part about some of these NIL kids is they will have "hangers on" who will use them and provide very bad advice.
I wouldn't doubt that some programs still have "bagmen" for family members in addition to the player's NIL $.Maybe have a few NIL bucks available for mom and dad. Call it a consulting fee.
If he’s smart, he will get his education and get the heck out of McKeesport. These "commitments" aren't worth the cost of the fax machine. He's negotiating. He's checking his value on the open market. College recruiting is a free for all, I don’t really think the court decision actually helped very much. As I understand it NIL deals can still be made on top of what the school pays.I wouldn't doubt that some programs still have "bagmen" for family members in addition to the player's NIL $.
The system is more corrupted season-by-season.
Is college sports anywhere near unionization, contracts, a CBA, and salary cap?
Exactly, so Alums can pay addl monies as much as they like. Until there’s unionization and a salary cap the highest bidder wins outCollege recruiting is a free for all, I don’t really think the court decision actually helped very much. I sent my kids to college and thought I provided good parenting - am I entitled to a consulting fee?Maybe have a few NIL bucks available for mom and dad. Call it a consulting fee.
Yes they can. The school $20 million is totally separate from NIL.College recruiting is a free for all, I don’t really think the court decision actually helped very much. As I understand it NIL deals can still be made on top of what the school pays.
No harm in asking.I sent my kids to college and thought I provided good parenting - am I entitled to a consulting fee?
The best approach in these times is to ensure that the trenches are elite every year. In that way, most 4-star RBs will shine. This is like he isn't even committed. We are just one of six or seven schools recruiting him. I would be shocked if he signs with us.

I agree. Even if/when we lose him, we still should be able to land a solid 4 star RB and if our O-Line is elite then our run game should be very good. The best approach in these times is to ensure that the trenches are elite every year. In that way, most 4-star RBs will shine.
Why can't we have nice things?
Is that lega…….never mind.Maybe have a few NIL bucks available for mom and dad. Call it a consulting fee.
