Well I thought they sucked anyway. Others may have a different take.
Except for Am I Racist, which I saw numerous times in theaters, I only go to a movie in recent years when I have grandkids in tow, which was the case a couple times in the last few weeks.
I took two kids to Mission Impossible -- The (hopefully) Final Reckoning and two more to Jurassic World Rebirth.
My expectations were pretty low...but not low enough as it turned out. However, the kids enjoyed themselves which was the main thing.
Anyway, Mission Impossible went on...and on...and on...for almost 3 solid hours. I lost the ridiculous plot about 20 minutes in...something about Tom Cruz saving the world.
Jurassic World was at least a bit shorter but even more idiotic if such a thing could be possible. Suffice it to say that I ended up rooting hard for the dinosaurs.
In fact, the only good thing about either flick was the popcorn which not cheap at $10 for a large bucket with one free refill. Oh and the Mission Impossible theme music was cool.
These movies don't do character development. It's just a lot of high-tech special effects and stuff getting blown up. Boring as hell.
But the thing that really jumped out at me was the DEI angle, which was pervasive in both movies. In Jurassic Park, the team sent onto dinosaur island consisted of: an ***-kicking girl-boss white female who was there to protect the white males and tell them what to do; a noble and virile black male in charge of the boat; his noble black crewmate; a white butch-type presumed lesbian crewmate; a nerdy white male scientist; an evil white male villain working for a pharmaceutical company; and four hispanics, to include a darling little girl, who get rescued at sea and end up as unplanned members of the expedition.
In Mission Impossible, it's the same idea. Every scene and every set...the submarine...the carrier...piloting the Ospreys...the security personnel...the President and her cabinet. Blacks and females in charge. The Mission team itself: OK, Tom Cruz...then two girls, one of whom is an ***-kicker who can beat up 3 white males at a time...a black guy who pilots the plane...a white British guy...and the apparently mandatory noble black guy who gives up his life to save Tom Cruz but not before leaving an inspiring taped message that Tom listens to at the end of the flick.
The propaganda behind all of this is relentless and an insult to the intelligence of the audience...though it probably goes over their heads for the most part.
