Two blockbuster summer movies to avoid

I wouldn't drink water if Mike told me to. But I do like Kirk. Superman was filmed in CLE and is getting a lot of mixed reviews. I've never been a fan of this kind of Marvel movie, so would take a pass no matter what.

I did really enjoy Formula 1 with Brad Pitt. It was kind of like Top Gun: Maverick joins the race car circuit. One of those movies that needs the big screen and sound of IMAX. Shockingly, no gay sex. I had to get used to seeing a recent movie without gay sex after watching mostly Netflix and HULU.

How many girl bosses?

I mean without those, is it even hollywood?

Potential spoiler alert.

Part of the backdrop or secondary story is that Pitt has a chip on his shoulder for various reasons. Almost the entire movie is dudes except for one woman on his F1 Team who also has a chip, or a thing to prove. I can't think of any other meaningful characters that were female or, even, transgender.

Kirk and Mike didn’t like Superman. I haven’t seen it yet. Mike says Superman gets the crap kicked out of him.

I watched the Superman trailer in the previews before the two movies I panned in the OP...and it bored the living daylights out of me. I mean, if the trailer bores the daylights out of you, just think what the whole movie will do.

It was very clear to me this would be another formulaic Hollywood butcher job with the high-tech special effects designed to distract attention from the fact the movie sucks.

Yet it opened to very big box office...what, $125 million in the U.S. over the first weekend. So audiences will buy any swill served up to them if it comes dressed up as blockbuster entertainment.

It's a shame because the first Superman movie with Christopher Reeve is actually very good. Poignant in parts. Funny in parts. Great story and classic villains to include the hilarious character played by Gene Hackman.

Hollywood sucks. I'd recommend Matt's wonderful and record-breaking documentary Am I Racist instead. Haha! Had to mention that to troll Knicks.

Without at least 2 transgenders, it's not technically a movie.

It’s all about the dollars.

So, you support Matt's right to "say it," but not my right to "say it."

That makes sense.

Got it.

Silly me, sitting here concerned biased moderating was at play, when I could have just asked and had it confirmed it was.
I don't want posts about pedophilia anywhere near a PSU message board, so yeah, I'll censor mentions of it in most cases. Locking this thread as it's gotten unproductive.
