Don't forget the prevent offense. PSU could have closed that game out with one more first down. IU had all 11 guys within 5 yards of the LOS. A pop pass over the middle would have ended it but we ran, punted, and gave Indy a chance with 2 minutes remaining.The prevent defense only prevents you from winning
I still thought we'd hold them out of the end zone. We had a ton of pressure on Mendoza on that last play. He was lucky to get it off. Then the receiver just made an incredible play. I thought he was out of bounds. His foot was in by maybe an inch, if that. And the tight end made an amazing catch while falling back before that, even with good coverage. Those were championship-level plays. The big play before that that got them into our territory is more problematic.Sometimes, you just need to grab wins. Those 4th quarter give away losses to OSU about 8-9 years ago helped shape the passive 4th quarter culture of today.
