Is tomorrow the first day of fall practice?

I believe he needs to be healthy weeks before the Oregon game so that he gets a good number of targets in the OOC games and puts up some receiving numbers, getting his confidence up and getting Allar and him on the same page such that Allar is super comfortable looking his way.

To me Allar has plenty of weopons to use. the 3 transfer WRs, Denmark, Howard and a few others at WR, the TE's, and mature RB's that will also be weopons in the passing game. But Allar needs to not only get comfortable with them in practice but I believe needs to get in the habit of throwing to his diverse collection of weopons in games, including Ross.

I'm expecting Ross to be ready for the first game and get a good many targets in all the OOC games. At least in the first half of those games.
Can't disagree with that but if for whatever reason he has to miss some games then at least get him back for Oregon otherwise we have a "Ruh Rho" going on.

To your point, given our offensive receiving weapons, I'm fully confident we could beat Oregon without him but I don't want that to be a reality as he looks to be a key part of our WR group. The other point is that I think he is our fastest WR so our best deep threat. Those guys stretch a defense, put more pressure on a D and open things up for other guys so his presence on the field helps us even if he is not the primary option.

Yeah I would be shocked if this is a Winston thing but I just don't want it to be mid Oct and he has yet to play and no one has any clue. Kinda Murphy's Law thinking on my part.

It will be great to start getting some reports from camp about who is stepping up and where the position battles are. Most curious about.....
WRs - are they legit or at least impressing?
Depth on the DLine behind DDS and Durant
- How do Fisher and Ford look, fully healthy? - Do we have something in White at DE?
- Oher young guys at DT; Is Gilliam the legit #3? Wafle?
- At DE, Kemajou and Harvey?
- LB depth...Wylie (does he look healthy?) Campbell, Speca.
Anyone have any Intel on who the 1s & 2s were at today's first day of camp?

Day one. Cousins at RG. Rucci and Donkah both full goes. Top 4 safeties are zakee, king, dae dae, and Belgrave Shorter.

From 247 board.

Couple more...

Rojas and Ford full goes as well....

Nope Payne not really in the mix. (Poster asked directly about Lamont) Jahmir Joseph looks the part and came in ready to play.

It will be interesting to see more football discussion. Hopefully not because of injury.
1st day of their professional career for those getting $? I remember my first job at $7081/yr at General Electric in 1968. Low offer but fabulous education, better than many MBAs.

Even if Donkoh ends up at RG as some have suggested it still seems to make sense that Trautwein begins Fall practice letting Donkoh and Rucci compete for the starting RT spot given that they both have experience playing the position very well. Seems a shame that out of Donkoh, Rucci and Cousins that one will not be a starter on the OL if the top olinemen get through Fall practice without injuries.

I'm guessing that all 3 get starter-lite reps. Donkoh probably plays both with combined reps equal to Cousins and Rucci. It really adds to the flexibility of this OL. It's a long season and longer if you make a run in the playoffs. We'll need them all likely.

I think being the starter is an ego boost but not much else. All of these guys are going to see plenty of PT including some starts as other guys get dinged up.

It's a good problem to have. No such thing as having enough depth. I think it's a good thing because Donkoh may have won the spot, but he did miss the last quarter to half of the season. Rucci played good. No need to just shuffle him out.

As for Cousins, I think a lot of us are just excited for him. He's likely the weakest pass blocker of the crew and if he is passed over for Donkoh, I'm fine as long as we have the best 5 on the field.

Additionally, I'd love to see some 6 OL plays. If you want the Joe Moore, go out and crush some people.

Anything on TE Rappleyea being full go?

Saturday is the first media viewing session FYI.

The other info came from a known 247 poster who has access to practice at times and connections with the support staff and some media guys.

Unless you are behind the paywall, that info will probably hit podcasts crews on Monday. Just how it usually goes.

Some more updates from 247 board poster. I'll drop it below as he wrote it. My comments, if any will be in [ ] ...

Right now best I can tell Mack and Belgrave Shorter are practicing in this role [wrt to 5th DB in Knowles defense]

Some WR updates …

Expect to see a Koby Howard highlight reel come out. Wow.

Pena crisp smooth route running.

Hudson is really good.

[Somebody commented about Kaden Saunders not seeing the field and he replied "correct"]

---

Ross is still in baby blue, no contact jersey. Nothing noticeable like a boot.
