Next coaching candidates

I'm telling ya, they're watching to see how Rhule does over the next several weeks before making the official offer. Nebraska plays at Minnesota tonight and is more than a touchdown favorite. If Minnesota wins, that won't shine a positive light on Rhule.

If he can put together a string of wins, including one in Happy Valley, I think they'll make the offer. Kraft loves him but knows he has to be able to convince boosters and the fan base.
He's not looking good tonight.

Cignetti's confident. Maybe to the point of overkill. I like his style.

But I feel like people (Indiana administrators) are making too much of the Oregon win. We really don't yet know how good Oregon is this year. They appear to be a playoff team, but it's early. It would be funny if Oregon isn't as good as we thought, and Cignetti's getting nearly $100 million mainly for a win over a so-so team.
Not only did Indiana beat Oregon, but it curb stomped Illinois. (And Illinois beat USC)

Huskers look slow on offense. The receivers, the RBs. Either Rhule doesn't see this or can't get them.
I might be switching back over to the Meyer camp. Offer $12m and take it from there. Creative math says the $5m buyout not paid for Rhule makes it $7m. Get him immediately and start recruiting.

I mentioned this before but Longhorns featured in two ads (Bud Light & the Bevo on the loose one); two USC ads (two USC gals(?) sache into a ND bar & the fan in Trojan armor); a Buckeye sitting in the Michigan section; LSU guy walking through a Bama tailgate; Gator fan getting tattooed. Another reason this hire needs to be big. It's the rehab of the brand after ten years of false starts. Other programs, some mediocre, will always be showcased.

Yep. It's almost like UNL played so that its coach wouldn't be poached. If it's Rhules third year, then why the poor OL, WR room, and RB room. If he doesn't have the budget to get good players, then that's one thing, but his team looks like PSU vs. NW. Totally surprised. Again, Meyer was close with Joe, so I hope that will satisfy the return to 1986 donors.

Even if this coaching search is dragged out, I'm okay with Franklin gone. After the last three games, all the OSU games, the USC Rose Bowl game, and many other disappointments, fatigue was taking its toll, and I needed a period of hope. Let the chips fall where they may. 😐

Rhule does not seem like any kind of upgrade over Franklin, so I can't believe Kraft would fire Franklin to settle for Rhule.

I'm looking for more of a splash that Rhule.
Agreed... Rhule doesnt seem like an upgrade.... because.... HE IS NOT AN UPGRADE. Thank you for stating this. Rhule has not done anything spectacular. If he was not a PSU alum... everyone would be mispelling his last name.

After watching Vanderbilt beat LSU, maybe we could take their coach for a second time. I do think a lot of his success has to do with that quarterback, but maybe he can make that system work here.
