The money is a relatively new thing so I don't think it's fair to look very far back. By all accounts OSU, Oregon, Texas, etc have been spending a lot more on NIL than PSU."We can't compete with Oregon, Texas, and Texas A&M because of all their money".
Q1: How many national championships among them since 1970?
Q2: How many if no Vince Young?
And there might be a ceiling or diminishing returns related to the amount of money at some point. A good QB, and appropriate offensive scheme given the conference, congruence between the QB and said offensive scheme, the ability to judge talent like WRs & LBs, the ability to coach each play according to the situation, having a tight group of players who love to win, etc. are all factors that money, unto itself, ignores. All are on the head coach and that's why Kraft needs to be very particular and also be willing to pay. Krafty. The money is a relatively new thing so I don't think it's fair to look very far back. I think PSU will be competitive in the future because they seem very committed to spend whatever is necessary. They might still have a disadvantage with NIL but they'll be in the ballpark. The problem is it's going to take a couple of years to rebuild.
More than you know. There's some big fish who don't fit particularly well where they're at. We are all in on this, make no mistake about it. Timing may affect it, but there is serious interest in Penn State from huge names.Who are the low risk big fish?
I think a lot of fans are hoping to attract proven coaches away from top 10 schools. That doesn't seem realistic.
Name one or twoMore than you know. There's some big fish who don't fit particularly well where they're at. We are all in on this, make no mistake about it. Timing may affect it, but there is serious interest in Penn State from huge names.
Cignetti is getting a new contract at Indiana. Freeman's contract at ND runs through 2030 and ND. PSU might offer him $13 million but ND would likely counter. Regardless he wouldn't leave ND before mid January. There are good coaches (e.g. Drinkwitz, Riley), coaches that get teams to the playoffs (e.g. Cignetti, Freeman), and then there are coaches who know what to do to win championships.
One semi low risk big fish is Brian Kelly at lsu. He is a good coach but apparently doesn't fit into the culture at Louisiana.Name one or two
The Ga Tech guy, Key, plays a physical style. I would be satisfied if we could land him. They will make the playoff most likely. Their QB, King? has been playing great. What has been lacking at PSU forever. It is awful to watch PSU be so soft. The identity of the program has been lost... I liked PSU being hard nosed... tough on the ball... and kick ***....... now we are just a bunch of weak *** furries
Elko and DeBoer are real and have reached out. Diaz is real. Drink is real.Name one or two
Probably the hardest pull out there. He loves his alma mater. The Ga Tech guy, Key, plays a physical style. I would be satisfied if we could land him. They will make the playoff most likely. Their QB, King? has been playing great.
We're not looking at Kelly. Like Meyer, kinda poisoness. One semi low risk big fish is Brian Kelly at lsu. He is a good coach but apparently doesn't fit into the culture at Louisiana.
Would that be the BOT and some vintage donors telling Kraft that they don't care what his aspirations are?
The difference is that one wins nattys and the other doesn't.We're not looking at Kelly. Like Meyer, kinda poisoness.
Nope. He's way down the list. Only Jay and Lubrano want him. Hmmmm, I wonder why. If he is the pick, then Pat Kraft failed miserably.
This simply isn't true, and Finebaum and Davis have no clue what they're talking about. A prediction? Based on what? Kraft isn't talking to either of these guys. Rhule is way down the list. It would be a mistake of epic proportions. From what I've heard through the grapevine, Rhule is still the #1 guy. He wants the job, and Kraft wants him. There are apparently certain criteria he has to meet. Losing last week to Minnesota was not a good look but apparently wasn't a deal-breaker either. If they can put together a string of wins (including one in Happy Valley) the job is his. That said they still have USC before they play us. It's a night game at Nebraska but the Cornhuskers have a bad habit of crapping the bed on national TV. They also have to play at UCLA who is surging. Haven't heard anything about DeBoer (sorry but I don't see him leaving Bama for PSU) but apparently Elko at A&M has expressed interest.
