I think much is dependent on how Rhule finishes the season. If they run the table or finish 10-2 with a win in Happy Valley it would be a much easier sell than if they finish 7-5 with losses along the way to Minnesota or UCLA.
If that was the case, why would he leave JMU?Good point, if you are him at his age, why leave Indiana? He has everything he wants and needs to be successful. Maybe we should check out his coordinators.
Who would be a big home run?A Big Home Run is required. For the donors, the fanbase, the infrastructure invested, the current players, for Pat Kraft, for how Franklin was terminated, the brand, and for holding and attracting HS & portal recruits. The media coverage has also been massive, so no skimping. And the sooner, the better. Waiting until December or January is too late. Therefore, Meyer.
No delusion. The ingredients are money, resources, short term contract, money, and money. It has been shown to work in other industries.Meyer isn't happening. Anyone who thinks that is delusional. Florida will target Kiffin, Drinkwitz, and Franklin. Maybe Golesch.
Urban Meyer on the triple option podcast stated Penn State will end up paying $70 million for the various buyouts and having made the decision to pay 70 million he feels that Penn State already knows who the next coach is.Who would be a big home run?
I did watch that discussion, and I suspect he's correct. If not HC, then at least he'd be great as a short term GM just to get things quickly ironed out. He's does have PSU familiarity and connections.Urban Meyer on the triple option podcast stated Penn State will end up paying $70 million for the various buyouts and having made the decision to pay 70 million he feels that Penn State already knows who the next coach is.
He also stated that he feels that the bottom fell out of the season because of locker room problems or problems with the staff. Says he has no inside knowledge per se but that based on his long years of coaching, he feels strongly that one of the two issues is caused the problem.
Don't have time to post a link right now. Will post it later.
I wonder if we'll have to pay Franklin $50 million. Didn't I hear that he has to look for another job and we would only pay him the difference? But yes the new coach might need us to cover a buyout and the cost of any new assistants.Urban Meyer on the triple option podcast stated Penn State will end up paying $70 million for the various buyouts and having made the decision to pay 70 million he feels that Penn State already knows who the next coach is.

What Meyer was saying was saying was that they had to pay off all the assistant coaches and the buyout for a new coach on top of Franklin.I wonder if we'll have to pay Franklin $50 million. I also wonder if PSU already has somebody in mind. I sure hope so because we're rapidly losing recruits and players. Waiting until the middle of January after the season ends would be devastating. Of course Kraft talked about a national search and something like that doesn't happen quickly.
I understand that completely. I just wonder if they'll have to pay $50 million to Franklin. What Meyer was saying was saying was that they had to pay off all the assistant coaches and the buyout for a new coach on top of Franklin.
Drinkwitz was at Appalachian State just before Mizzou. Brady was a GA @ PSU several years ago, then was QB coach and Asst OC (probably passing game) @ LSU when Joe Burrows led them to the Natty. No delusion. The ingredients are money, resources, short term contract, money, and money. It has been shown to work in other industries.
And about some of these names moving the needle. Does any CFB fan remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when Mizzou hired Drinkwitz? And who knew of the QB whisperer working for the Buffalo Bills?
Got it. But not "needle movers".Drinkwitz was at Appalachian State just before Mizzou. Brady was a GA @ PSU several years ago, then was QB coach and Asst OC (probably passing game) @ LSU when Joe Burrows led them to the Natty.
What "needle movers" do you think we could get? We probably can't get any of the top 10 coaches from existing powerhouse schools because it wouldn't be a move up.Got it. But not "needle movers".
Pat Kraft was adamant about being aggressive with money and resources to win championships. That's all I can go on. If Drinkwitz is a possibilty, then it is what it is.What "needle movers" do you think we could get? We probably can't get any of the top 10 coaches from existing powerhouse schools because it wouldn't be a move up.
We were going to have to wait until mid January for him anyway and that wouldn't be good IMO.One down.![]()
Think he sent James a thank you letter?
